Snoop (Puppy) is going to Prison!

Okay if that caption didn't grab yah.....maybe curiousity did.

I usually have the people at work in stitches of my experiences with my furballs. Last week it was having Panda who had ear surgery, Snoop Dog aka Puppeee the Pitt bull and Daisy the cat with neurological problem in the same vehicle while being stuck in traffic for 1 and 1/2 hours, after a return trip from the vets. I survived the ordeal of holding Snoop in a headlock while vet inserted a thermometer in his butt . If you told me a few months ago I would have been doing that I woulda called you crazy!

All happily all sat quietly in the van (probably humbled from their experiences) until I returned home. A mad scramble out of the van for washroom duties and all I could think of...was Wow those steaming messes coulda been in my van..it was a good day afterall!

Wed- Took Snoop in for his snip snip, rabies and microchip.

This weekend - Sat, I've made arrangements with the womens prison who will train and board dogs in special circumstances (they usually take the unadoptable shelter dogs) and fund the program by taking the odd private cases. Wed - Snoop was neutered and is nearing his 5th month and weighs in at 50 pounds. Wanting a nice socialized pup - he's had that living with the cats, bunnies and Merlin and Panda. However, still living between two homes (sigh yes that's right going back and forth daily) so had no time to take him in for training.

My son wasn't given the pup the attention and socialization he needed so asked if I could look after him.(again!) Oh sheesh as if I really needed a puppy but I'm attached to the little guy and see first hand the loyalty and loving nature of the breed if raised and socialized properly.

Sunday - a vet clinic was offering 50 % discount on microchips so I called. Told I could have my pick of appointments between 1 and 3 :45 as there were 9 appointments left. I said " I'll take all 9 please", but could I bring in 10? The women was incredulous..ummm did I hear you right..you want all of the appointments left? I explained they were all my rag tagged felines whom I formally fostered and eventually adopted when all resources to find them permanent homes were exhausted due to their special needs or being seniors. Yes, I am in the middle of moving and as my Two dogs are microchipped - it's important I get the cats and puppy done too. As this was a fundraiser for the shelter - some friends told me that the story of the lady with the 9 cats and Pit Bull puppy has made the rounds of some forums. LOL! It would have been a funnier story if it was 9 cats and Pit Bull pup but I had him microchipped on Wed during his neuter. So it's now back down to 9 kitties.

Good thing too as turns out he's going to prison for 2 weeks starting tomorrow at 12:30. How fun is this weekend going to be for me!!!!
I'm also looking forward to Sunday when I try to load 9 cats (two ferals) in crates for a trip to the clinic. Oh joy! No wonder I have been absent from the forum for a while. I miss you guys and will be back when I finally get holidays coming up in 3 wks. Nope not in my new place 100% yet...some critters there (long process when you have so many animals and are moving). I hope to be there full time by Christmas.

We ALL win, since we all knew Snoopy was going to be a member of Marianne's family!
Marianne,
I was just thinking about you earlier this week ("Wonder what she's been up to, haven't seen her around the forum in a while")

Your adventures always make me smile.
It was obvious from the start Snoop would be in the big house.......but we assumed the one without the bars. Now looks like both: one home in jail learning some manners and then back to the "manor." No way Snoop is going back with your son. He's not in a position to have a dog right now, especially a pittie type dog.
Glad for the update, Marianne. :D Your frantic pa 8) ce hasnt't slowed one bit!
.....Well the deed was done. Yesterday, I drove through the gates of a maximum prison and left Snoop the puppy for boot camp. Many years ago I did the same thing with Shaggy (except it was mimimum security and only for the afternoon) in order for her to be groomed. This was when she was deathly ill with her immune defieciency and couldn't stand for long periods. I needed to have her shaved down for the vet to see if there was any new lumps or bumps on her. I couldn't be happier...for hours she was lavished with attention and those in the program assisted in lifting her. That program closed down several years ago and now this new program started at maximum security.

The Animal Protection Leaque takes in dogs that would otherwise be unadoptable in shelters and work with them for up to 6 wks duration. Training them so they are well socialized and adoptable dogs. I mentioned they are able to fund the program by taking in private dogs so it's a win /win situation.

I felt a little tinge of regret leaving Snoop behind as I passed through the gates on my way out but also a sigh of relief. Hooo Hooo for 2 wks I can paint, pack boxes , and enjoy a nap on the couch without a 50 pound body dive bombing and landing on my stomach. Yeah!!

I really hadn't planned on keeping him yah know! My son rented a place and took him back for a while but the little guy was alone for much of the time. I kept taking him in order to get his shots, checkups and neuter. Sheesh he might have well been my puppy! So not sure who won the bet... :)

On a funny note my mom called shortly after I entered the building and I asked to use the washroom (of course taking Snoop in there with me). Phone rings (I hadn't turned in my phone yet). Mom, I can't talk at the moment I'm in a maximum security prison and not allowed to use a cell phone.. Without missing a beat my mom continues talking...I thought I'd better call her that night as I was sure later in the day, she'd later say...What? did I hear her right? Where was she?
