Silly me forgot to take the camera, but the guys kept us so busy trying to sniff every dog in the crowd that even if I wanted, I could not have been able to take any pic ![]() |

Hi,
Thanks for posting this. I have only seen this on tv and it's wonderful to hear first hand what goes on . Really wish I could have been there! There's a saying that says you can always tell how civilized a society is by the treatment of their animals. :O) Marianne |
I've never heard of that before! How sweet! It sounds like a lot of fun. ![]() |
This is a great event! We have a local "Blessing of the Animals" in October at the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
Here's a link to find a schedule of blessings (you can look it up by State)... www.americancatholic.org/Features/francis/us.asp I wasn't able to make it this past October (the blessing was in the morning and I had a schedule conflict) but the previous year I brought Brittney and she was blessed by the Priest (among several other animals - including some dogs that had just been operated on, ill animals, young animals, goats, rabbits, etc.). Of course, I cried! ![]() Our town does the blessing during their Annual Animal Fair. They have booths setup from shelters and/or rescue programs, people selling great animal products, grooming demos, portraits, etc. It's alot of fun! -Kristen |
It's exactly the same festivity Kristen, the blessing of the animals on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi.... I wonder why we don't have it on the same day?
It was a lot of fun, even if the dogs keep your hands full trying to sniff every single dog and cat there is, I'm looking forward to doing it again. |
