I'm a Mother

I just got a phonecall from the breeder and I am a mother! The only list I could get on was with a lady farmer who has two working old english sheepdogs on her farm and she bred them to get herself 2 more males to train as workers, and the pups were born during a storm last night.Only 4,two boys and 2 girls and I was 4th on the list so I have a beautiful baby girl OES at last! After losing out on 4 breeders lists ,mainly because they naturally wanted their pups to go to show homes(and I dont show),I was always the one waiting in the wings in case there was a badly flashed puppy or too small or too large, whatever would deem it unshowable, and just never made it to the actual list of new owners.
Then my sister found this lady and talked her into letting me onto her list and I finally won the jackpot. So my little Kismet is a couple of hours old as we speak and I may get a photo next week,I will be nagging.I am so happy.2 sheepdogless years is the most I could bear, then the struggle to find a puppy I could actually have, its been a rocky road, but we made it!I am so excited and happy and want to tell everyone. My 2 teens just left for school minutes ago so I cant even tell me sheepdog mad daughter!I shall tell her dog,Summer, instead, that she is a big sister!
I know you all know how I feel right now, like alls right with the world again.

Now just one comment, I know you were desperately looking for another OES even going the re-homing-rescue way to get a female. So pleased you found a little bundle to love, but please don't group breeders as only keeping a list of people that are willing to show puppers. Majority of breeders here in Australia are more concerned with finding the correct home then wether it is going to be a show dog or pet/companion.

Since you started enquiries only One litter on the ground in OZ in NSW but that breeder had people waiting for 12 months or more on a list. It is not the fact they look at they want show homes it is the fact there is just not that many being born here and some people have been patiently waiting for well over a year plus on breed clubs lists.

So what you stated is incorrect, there is just not the amount being born to satisfy the demand for puppies. Most breeders here only breed every few years when they are ready to continue on their lines and usually have people on their lists waiting till the next litter is planned, it has nothing to do with they want a show home for puppies they can't keep it just is their is not the numbers being born to satisfy those wanting the breed and of course those that have had prior experience in the breed ie.owned an oes before take priority over a newcomer. Yes you would of been the perfect home for any breeder here in OZ but no one has had litters.

I am so glad you found one and wish you many years of sheepie fun ahead with the new little bundle of fur. :D I also hope that the sire and dam of the new lil one has had the appropriate health testing to safeguard your new little bundle. That is hips/elbows done, eye screening clearances at a bare minumum of testing.
Sorry,I was referring to the 5 breeders I have talked to in the last 2 years, not anyone here And yes,a breeder did explain the hip score system to me and told me the health questions to ask,she was willing to add me but told me I would be in for a 2 to 3 years minimum wait on her list, for a pup I wasnt going to show,so I changed my search criteria.
I wasnt dissing breeders,I have met some lovely ladies who were happy to help and like we know, there are way less pups than people wanting them.
oh I'm so happy for you! I know how badly you wanted this; congratulations!!!! :yay:
Congrat!!! I am so happy for you. :D
