What Is Your favorite Christmas Music?

What is your Favorite Christmas music?

My favorite hymn is "Joy to the World". I just love to hear the entire congregation singing it at the end of the services.

As for regular traditional Christmas music, my all time favorite album is "Christmas Magic" by the Mantovani Orchestra. I bought it on tape decades ago. Practically wore it out. Once CD's came along I couldn't find it anywhere even at Christmas time. So I bought & downloaded it from ITunes. It is all instrumental. Coming from a background of taking years of piano lessons & being in the band & orchestra at school, instrumental is my prefence for this type of music.

Just to show I am not an old "fuddy-dud" I do like Mannheim Steamroller's & Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas albums too!

I am a fuddy-duddy. I love all the oldies even the instrumentals when noone is around so that I can sing with abandonment. Christmas music though puts me in a shopping mood. Yikes!
I love the oldies too!!!! Frankie....Dino......Bing....etc..etc...

Give me a roaring fire, a glass of wine....my puppers laying around my feet and Christmas music---IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!!!!
Johnny Mathis (or Jimmy Buffet's Christmas Island, HOHOHO and a Bottle of Rhum (?) ) so I guess we are talking oldies
I do love oldies, but lately I find myself enjoying more hip/rockin' type Christmas tunes ...like the ones they have on Home Alone. Jingle Bell Rock and Winter Wonderland are just a few that come to mind.
Oldies please, choir (Mormans, etc), choral, instrumental (I do enjoy Manheim), individual old dead singers. (Sinatra, Martin, etc) Tony Bennet is eternal. Even like the more English music that is not common here. Then there's the old chants......give me a bunch of monks with good voices if it's heavy on baritones and bases........yum.

Haven't warmed up to country singers and Christmas unless it's a traditional arrangement of classic and their voice is nice.

Anything more modern, no thanks....."Grandma got run over by a reindeer".....there's something that gets stuck in your brain.... 8) second only to "Feliz Navidad" (sends me screaming out the door)
I dislike both of those as well.
Trans-siberian orhcestra, alvin and the chipmunks LOL and the fun ones like grandma got run over by a reindeer.... LOL

Love adam sandler's hannuka song too :)

Ya gotta love those individual old dead singers!

Thanks, now I've got Feliz Navidad running through my head.

My favorite is O Holy Night. It's just a beautiful piece of music.

I also love George Winston's December CD, but that's mostly for his version of Pachelbel's Canon, which never fails to amaze me
Got to go with Oldies and ofcourse Alvin and the chip monks.
But I just heard a new CD by Josh Grobin all Xmas it is great
It might become one of my fav,s
I love the traditional hymns and carols, but they make me weep, especially "Silent Night." I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. My favorite religious song is, like Jilwithoneel, "O Holy Night." My favorite secular songs are "Feliz Navidad" and "Holly Jolly Christmas." I also love "Snoopy's Christmas." I loathe and despise "Grandmas Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and I'm really sick of "All I Want for Christmas is You" and "Santa Baby."

Radio stations here started playing Christmas music the day after Halloween. Where's the barf smiley??????

By the way, did you know that "Jingle Bells" was originally written as a Thanksgiving song?????
oh Sant baby - I do love the Eartha Kitt version of that - sorry Paula
Paula, we have one of those stupid Christmas radio stations here too. A barf smiley is definitely in order! What is wrong with these people?

I just bought the Josh Grobin Christmas CD but haven't listened to it yet. I loved his first CD so I figured it had potential. I also bought a Michael Buble Christmas CD because he has an Old Dead Singer kind of voice. :D
I like the Eartha Kit version of "Santa Baby", too, but ONLY that version. All the rest just do not compare, IMO.

Favorite hymns are Silent Night and O Holy Night.

Favorite comtemporary song is Mary Did You Know.

I like to listen to Christmas music while I'm working, shopping, cooking or like Val, just sitting by the fire with my feet propped up with a few sheepies on my lap.

Merry Christmas! :P
I'm not keen on the country singers doing Christmas carols....except for Kenny Rogers. It just must be his voice that makes them good. :aww: On the other side of the coin , I have an album by one of my top 3 favorite singers,Neil Diamond. It just isn't good! It has to be that Neil Diamond's style of singing just doesn't carry over to Chritmas Carols.
Oh Holy Night is hands down my favorite hymm.

White Christmas ranks up there-- and so does Siver Bells.
I adore Bing for christmas......I do like some more modern christmas songs, some new, some remakes....some traditional favs.....
Well in this household of teenagers, its All I want For Christmas Is You by MCR.What can I say,its catchy and different!
I like most Christmas songs but my favourite is A fairy tale of New York by Kirsty McColl and the Pogues!
My favorite religious hymn is "Silent Night." Don't know why, but I tear up at it, too! Can't even make it all the way thru without crying!

I like the traditional songs and singers, but my absolute favorite are the albums by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. You have to commit to reading the insert with the CD to get the story behind it, but they all have a story line. The musicians are phenomenal and the music is unmatched in any other album. We've seen their show 3 times and it is just mesmerizing. LOUD, for sure, but mesmerizing.

What can I say? I'm an old rocker at heart!
Mannheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian Orchestra are current faves. Bert Kaempfert orchestra "Christmas Wonderland" album from the 1960's brings back special memories of home and family.
I am one of those weirdos that will listen to nearly everything.... certain Jazz tunes and Rapp will get the radio station changed FAST!!!
But really I pick the music for my mood that day. So nearly ANY Christmas Carol will do ~

EXCEPT DECK THE HALLS.... there is just something about that song I can't stand. I don't care if my cute adorable son was singing it in a school play. I would still hate it!

Very true about reading the inserts.
I love the traditional Christmas hymns. O Holy Night, and Do you Hear What I Hear? I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, O Come Emmanuel and my most favorite of them all is The First Noel. Its more for sentimental reasons then anything. It reminds me of when I was young, we would always go to candle light services at my aunts church and my dad and uncle would sing the tenor and bass and of course off tune. When I was a kid I was embarrassed but now its a special memory.

Santa Baby and Rocking around the Christmas Tree are my favorite songs. OH and the Grinch song. LOL
