do I cut or let it grow

So after letting Obe's hair grow for a year and a half, it may be time to get him cut. I was going to wait until winter is over but by that time (could be May again) his hair will be super long. Guessing it's around 8-9 inches long. I will put it this way it dwarfs my hand.
I'm going to call the groomer today and if she isnt already booked up for Dec 5th (already has appt for that day) I will have her scissor cut him no shorter than 4 inches. This should get the rest of his pup and sun stained hair removed.
I was talking about this with Tara (lady who walks him during the week) and she agree. She just said do not shave him. I told her not to worry about that. If the groomer cannot scissor cut him on the 5th then he will just get his regular grooming that day and we will do it next time.

Charlie (9 mos) just got his second scissor cut on Friday. To say the least, he's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've gotten rid of almost all the puppy fur and just see the awesome gray and white. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
Obe is getting a hair cut on the 5th of Dec. I'm sure it will look good, but it was a lot of work the past year and half. Not that I mind brushing him and I think most of the time he enjoys it as well.
