Could some Aussies tell me what to buy re brushes etc.Please
I have bought a PetLife Double sided Brush,its got silver metal pins one side and ordinary hair brush on other.Is it okay? This will be a pet only,non showdog.What am I looking for in combs,slicker?etc,as my last one looked like the slicker the other poster showed in his link and the answer to him was it was a bad slicker. And combs,what combs do I need?Please,anyone in Oz.(So I know I can actually buy them here). Do we have those dog ear wipes here?If not,can we use the large thick baby (bum) wipes or not?What antibiotic liquid for the final groom of the ear canal? What do you use to moisten the hair as you brush(I used to use just a bit of conditioner in water in a spray bottle).I am guessing theres better things available now.Thanks. |

Brushes the one you have got will not make it through the coat to skin level, on this link is a good quality Pin Brush from "Plush Puppy" which will last, is reasonably priced too. With the pin brushes whichever you end up getting make sure it is straight pins with non of those little balls on the end of the pins as they are useless in an OES coat. You will also need a good quality metal comb, two, wide tooth and a finer tooth ones, one for helping with knottys other for beards and tighter areas. A good pair of sharp scissors is another thing to get and also large nail clippers for then they are more mature to trim those tough buggars  
OK ears, nothing fancy, at most pet shops and Vets a solution called "Epi-Otic" is available the bottle lasts a long time, squeeze some onto a cottonwool ball to wipe the ear flaps and if there is a mucky ear then you can use this solution also to flush the ear as well. Ear wipes get used quickly so this way better with the solution and more economical too as you have the bottle for ages.  |
