How do you define what a hero is?

I have a suggestion:

OMG!

"Hero" doesn't even BEGIN to describe those two men!! I would love to know what happened to the captain and crew - if they were arrested and/or charged with anything.

OMG!!! :phew:
Whoa, thats harrowing just to watch.Lucky he had all the trained crew members to help...oh wait.,no he didnt...did they catch the first boat outa there?
Note to self: do not take a cruise on that line.
WOW!!!! 8O
Those men are true heroes and the ship "staff" should
be prosecuted!!
I can't believe the crew loaded up the lifeboats with their cases instead of people 8O

Those two men were brilliant. Imagine having to wait- what was it- four hours? for the helicopter to arrive, ugh!

I can't imagine going through something like that. Very scary!
According to Captain Avranas, it was dark because the generator had flooded and he ordered it turned off. He felt if he abandoned ship he could better coordinate the rescue effort. He refused to apologize.

All I can find is he was stripped of his captain rank and given a jail sentence which was suspended (I guess because nobody died). He was later spotted running ferries in Greece.
According to a couple of news reports, the year after the sinking, the captain and several of the crew were found quilty of negligence.
Wow, what a story! I can't believe how calm he sounded when he was on the radio looking for a ship to help them...
What a story. They truly are heroes!!
those two men definitely define the word hero(s).
It's nice to know that there are still good people out there. People who will help others in a time of need. Too often it's every man for himself, or in this case, captian and crew. I was raised to believe that you always do whatever you can to help, and even though I'm not a social person, I will help anyone I see in need. I really hope that captain and crew will pay for their cruelty to their fellow man, if not in this life, in the hereafter or next life, whichever it may be.
