What do you add to your stuffing?

Are you a traditionalist with minimal additives or are your experimental?

For me the stand bys are: sausage (precooked), celery, mushrooms, real butter and chicken stock. Optionals are chopped apples and walnuts. I detest onion in my stuffing.

Over the years I've also added: green chile, dried cranberries, orange zest....hmmm, wonder what else??

nope, i keep it simple...celery and onions...BUT i do like the chopped gizzards in there too!
Stuffing must be Brownberry's Sage and Onion. Mix with onions and celery that have been sauteed in butter. Moisten with additional melted butter (ooooh, about a stick), water and chicken stock. Mom said when she was growing up her mother always put oysters in the stuffing cuz Grandpa liked it. Sounds gross to me.

Ditto-- and Ditto. We do oysters too because my Dad loves it. He gets the whole dish to himself, while the rest of us fight over the "plain"

Last year my sister did a sausage and apple-walnut that was great, but we always have old faithful, no matter what.
corn bread stuffing with cashews, onions, celery, lots of butter and Bells Poultry seasoning.... I'm going to try some with dried cranberries this year, but it will have to be a small bit, my husband hates cranberry anything, poor man, has no idea what he is missing.
paxo sage and oinion stuffing mixed with sausage meat and cranberries yummy! i know because i just done it for tea!
we have to do mrs cubbison's stuffing mix with sauteed onions and celery. mmmm
Sauteed onions, celery, a tiny bit of finely diced carrot, sage, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper...
My dad always ordered an extra dish of stuffing with raisins. :lmt:
I am with Stacey, except I also add a egg and stock to the bread. Also the gibblets chopped or I put them in the gravy
I follow my mom and grandmom's tradition -- celery, onion, sage, poultry seasoning and marjoram, egg and stick of butter and I have also started using chicken broth. Yum!!!!!
