Mommas Little Helper

So everyone on this forum knows that Old English Sheepdogs, "Shag Dogs", "Sheepies", well you know- THESE DOGS- are brilliant.

Chelsea helped with the laundry yesterday, not the ususal re-arranging and moving of dirty or already folded things from basket to floor- nope this time she actually obeyed a command and HELPED. My husband was hauling a basket of dirty clothes down the steps and a few pieces fell on the stairs. Chelsea was of course underfoot and when the items dropped she stopped on that stair. My husband, who had now reached the bottom of the stairs turned and said "pick it up Chelsea and bring it to daddy". She stood there and looked at him, thought about it, and voila! she picked up the stuff and brought down the stairs to him.

Now if we can just teach her to pick up the groceries and have dinner waiting when we get home at night.

She's young. Anything is pawsible.

Up.

LOL.... smart indeed! My girls only help to undo the laundry. They help unfolding, they help unwashing, they help by taking clean, folded clothes out of dresser drawers... so helpful!
What a smart Chelsea!
"Anything is pawsible." - LOL! Love it!

But seriously, if you do teach her to have dinner ready, please share your secrets!

Chris
The more jobs you can give a sheepie the more they will do. Yes, bringing the grocery's in is one of Bam-Bam's highlights. He let's me know when the mailman has arrived and sometimes the mailman will wait to personally hand the mail to Bam-Bam, he carries it to the house and gets his cookie for a job well done. Carry's in my husbands coffee cup when he gets home and removes his socks at the end of his day. We refer to all these things as his jobs. He loves it and always looking for something new to do. These dogs are capable of so much, I think their intelligence is higher than what they are given credit for. Bam-Bam seems to really love participating in all thats going on and is insulted when there are people around that treat him like a dog. He will turn his back on them lay down and sulk until I talk him out of it. Maybe we have just gone totally over the edge with this big pup of 5 years, but thats ok, I can't think of anything I would rather be than owned by an OES.
