I'm sure you all thought you'd gotten rid of us for good, but no such luck my friends! Wer're back, and better then ever. Karen and Pippin have returned. In fact, not only are we back, but Pippin has a very important announcement for all his sheepdog and human friends. Please stay tuned for this important message:

Wait, wait, no sorry that is the wrong announcement. Let me change the channel.
"The canidae party stands by it's presidential candidate, and we deny all allegations that Spike is actually a cat dressed in sheepdog clothing. This is an obvious attempt by the felinus candidate to discredit his opponent, and we are shocked and saddened by this blatant attempt..."
Darn political ads. Definitely not it!

Ladies and gentleman. Dear friends both human and canine. It is with the greatest of pleasure, the deepest of joy, and a considerable amount of relief that I introduce to you today the newest member of my family, Miss Lily Ann Jurgensen.
Yes after two and a half years, and four pregnancies, we have finally been blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She was born September 28th at 9:22 pm, weighed 6lbs 2oz, and was 18.5 inches long. Now at over a month old, she has the entire houseold wrapped around her little pinky finger, and we couldn't be happier about it!
I was going to wait until the pictures have been approved, but I think Jo and Darcy are getting ready to fly over to MN and pummel me for making them wait to find out what's going on... I'll insert the pictures of our little angel as soon as they're up! |

Way to go mommy and daddy, and I'm so happy for you. The troubles to get there have broken many of our hearts, and I just know you guys what something well deserved  I wish we could have been there for you during your pregnancy, as I'm sure that was hard on you!!!! Have any gray hairs now? 
I can't believe I have to wait longer now for pics.

Jo- I don't have any gray hairs (and if I did, I wouldn't own up to them) but she definitely gave daddy a few more! She does look quite a bit like Mike, but she has my hands, my mouth, and my skin. (And hopefully my prevalence for being good and staying out of trouble... do I dare hope?) I underestimated how overwhelming it is to look at your child and see pieces of youself in miniature. I hold her hands and it's someone took a shrinking machine to mine, freaky and wonderful all at the same time.
We definitely have had quite the time getting her here! I was on bed rest from early July until she was born. I was hospitalized 4 times, once with kidney stones, which was horrendous, and once for three weeks when I went into premature labor on... you guessed it, Labor day. I finally went into labor 1 hour after my baby shower (I was still at my moms when my water broke!), and had her 4 hours later. The labor went so fast they didn't have time to get my pain meds on board, so I went au naturale, which I do NOT recommend, unless you're a pain junky. We had to have a vacuum assisted delivery, because she was having cardiac issues while I was pushing, and I was on my last attempt before an emergency c-section when we delivered her (THANK GOODNESS!!!!) Even though she was 4 weeks early, she is perfectly healthy, and other then being a bit small for her age, is doing beautifully.
It has definietly been a trial but I can't help but feel so lucky and blessed to have her here! |

I too had the case of the baby coming too fast, no time for pain meds.....LOL, gotta love it!  At least you feel so much more normal afterwards. |

Congrats Karen! I was thinking of you recently too and wondering how you were doing and if there was a little one involved. Yay, we can add you to the oes.org baby list! There's a lot of us lately!

I consider myself quite fortunate that she did as well as she did being born early. We had an angel sitting on my shoulder watching us during my pregnancy, that is for sure. That and a really amazing OB. I can't say enough good things about my Dr. It makes such a difference to have a doctor that you can trust, and who works with you to keep you and baby as healthy as possible under difficult circumstances. (If you go from the L+D rule that you don't officially start active labor until you're 4 cm dialated, then I was in labor for 2 months!) |
