Tomorrow I get Verizon FiOS TV

I've finally broken down and ordered a pay television service.
I have been watching my DTV setup for a few months now and I've loved it (mostly), but Verizon FINALLY came out with the offer for which I've been waiting.

I am currently paying $44.95 a month for 15/2 internet access. That's 15 megabit download speed and 2 megabit upload speed. They sent an email in April telling me the price would be increasing to $49.99 per month in May but the increase never happened; my credit card has still been charged $44.95.

I walked into a Verizon Wireless store and was surprised to see a staffed table offering FiOS service (they aren't the same company). Turns out they are opening these "kiosks" in many of the Verizon Wireless stores. It's nice to have a sister company with a large retail presence, I guess.

Anyway, they were offering internet service and TV service together in a bundle. I know that doesn't sound remarkable, but this is the first time I've found a bundle of those two without the phone service added.

The price is $79.95 a month (including a set-top DVR box) so about $30 or $35 more than I am paying now for internet alone. In addition, the package includes a boost to my 'net speed from 15/2 to 20/5 (which took effect today... and made backing up the website to my PC a little bit quicker).

So there ya go. I'm may never be seen around these parts anymore as I could be glued to the front of my set watching Myth Busters and How Stuff Works and the Discovery Channel and whatever else they've got going on.

It's been nice knowing you all!

PS There is a TV tuner in my (this) PC which I have never used, and I plan on having the cable outlet turned on in this room. Maybe I can watch and type at the same time. :D :D :D

You're going to be loving life! Weren't you going w/o any cable before which I can't imagine doing at all! We have something called at&T uverse which I love but to be honest, I hate having a lot of channels. They're pointless and we don't watch but a few of them. However, downgrading means we'd pay more... hmm... that's strange!
Honestly, I don't know how people live without cable. You might as well not watch TV if you don't have it. Welcome to the 20th century, Ron!

Does that include Dirty Jobs as well? Obviously I'd be staring at the same set.
It's nice that they got around to offering you what you were waiting for all this time. I would never have been able to hold out for TV that long. Not that I watch it all that much, but when I do, I want channels to choose from!!

I know it's the 21st century but I always say welcome to the 20th when someone is waaaay behind the times. Like when I finally got the Internet at home last year!
It's installed and calling to me.... I haven't watched it yet. I'm afraid it will be like that first bet for a problem gambler...

Save me!
Hey!

Did you know that they make compressed logs from sawdust, and Bill Murray was pretty good in Groundhog Day and that you can see instant replays at the touch of a button and that you can build a motorcycle in an hour and you can drive while blindfolded and can blow up gopher holes with C4 explosives but gasoline makes for a prettier fire and...
