TONS of questions!!! Please help the nutty girl.

1. Can someone give me an exact link to the combs I should get. I know pin brush, but can someone at least point to the width between each tooth? I've noticed a whole variety of them?

2. How do I know my pet clippers will work on such a big breed? They're normal pet clippers. They're not made especially for "small breeds" ...just clippers. Are there ones with 3 inch/4inch clippers because mine only go up to 1 inch (and i'd like the hair longer)

3. halti leash? bestest, right?

don't worry silly's... I have a vet appt. scheduled for shots, bloodwork, and screening that monday after the weekend I get her. she will be on heartworm medicine. ;)

what else is there? she will be eating IAMS. sorry. I know there are better brands (I can tell you them myself), but my other furbaby is ALLERGIC to them. You name it (brands sold at Petco/Petsmart) ...and poor little furbaby1 throws up bile. IAMS is the only thing that is tummy friendly SO if she eats a few kibbles, I can feel safe. This is despite her being on a different brand all together (she is on medicated l/d science diet food).

she has a baby gate up.

um, have a crate her size for now, but need a bigger one!!!

she has a whole garbage can full of toys (new w/tags) already.

filtered water. check... have that.

love? check, check.

nail clippers? hello.. i have a dog already. we have about 5 here. ;)

tear-free shampoo/conditioner/whitening shampoo - check

more stuff? link? thanks!!!

wow, it's weird hearing people wanting to meet MY sheepie. I mean, if you talked to me, you would know I thought this day would never get here. then again, I will not believe it until "next weekend" comes. (sigh)

Iriskmj, I will be happy to hear when you get yours. :)
Did you write on your list gas money and directions for Lennon and Sofa to go play?
I'm going to feel terrible if something goes wrong and she doesn't come to my home next week. I don't see it happening though!

Could someone with a female adult sheepie PLEASE tell me which one to buy? Full grown crate. I already have a medium sized one to use "now."

which ones do you like more? the see through kind all around or the plastic ones? should i get plastic because i can use it for airplanes too since we will travel? i'm terrible at guessing sizes. hoping one of you already know.

I think it may even show the other items in my basket. If so.. ha-ha.
I said TONS of questions. Sowry.

edit: hehehe ...my bad. I didn't meant "What about colors?" I meant what about collars?" lol Anyone know what would fit a 10 wk old puppy?

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ... 5749347924
It is so cute that you are so excited. I am very happy for you.
If I had a female puppy I would go for the Purple or Red Collar. As for question of size I would start with the 3/4 inch one. That will probably get you through a few month. They grow really fast
And the crates.. I think you answered your own question. If you travel a lot get the plastic one they are nice and sturdy and once the puppy no longer needs the crate you can take the top off and put a cushion in it and you have a doggie bed.
Good Luck!!!

Elissa
:D :D thanks

okay what about crate size then? which one fits a big sheepie?

Last Question!!!

If I get a Oster Turbo A5 Clippers seen below, how do I get/where do I get the attachments?!?! (1/2 inch, 1 inch, 1/4 inch, etc... ). I can't believe it doesn't seem like it comes with one!!!

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ... 5750020950

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ... 5750624568

Again congrads to you hun!!!!
thank you. thank you!!!

i'm glad to hear you're feeling better. sounded pretty bad!!! I can't believe you're all moved in. I've unpacked only 40% of my stuff. It's sickening.

actually no details until I know for sure. Things seem pretty clear with what will happen, but I will not believe it myself until she is in my arms. then I will give a full report!!! :D :D

I think everyone feels they've received enough of one already via emails, etc. hehehehe
Hi,
Congrats on the new puppy, I posted another answer to you on another subject. When we got Sam, she was thru a rescue group and was about 60 lbs and 8 months old. That was the day we thought we may be evacuated for the 2nd hurricane that hit Florida. Luckily, we didn't need to, but bought the last crate Petsmart had. Peopled were lined up before the store opened just to buy crates....anyway, the one we got is the 42" one (42x28x31) and it is metal. She was crated trained when we got her and unfortunately she spend most of the time in it :( . However, she has no problems "going to her room" (thanks to the command someone suggested on the forum!!!). She is in the crate when we are not home and she sleeps in it at night (except when dh is out of town and she takes over the bed  .
Don't get the nice looking fabric crate, my friend's beagle chewed thru that in 5 minutes!!!
oh thanks for answering me!!!! Helps so much! Leaves me with only one thing left so I can checkout with my order. That's the size I will get then.

I just need to know about the A-5 Clippers and where I can get attachments ...if even possible. I currently own an Andis clippers, but I'm assuming that doesn't do well on an OES' coat??
Oh, oh  ... having said that, please remember that that was the last crate Petsmart had....Sam is almost 1 and is approx 70 lbs and still growing. I don't know her background, so I won't know how big she will be until she stops growing. You may want to consider the larger (yes, there is a bigger size) one. Having said that, Sam is still quite comfortable in the 42" one and haven't decided when to upgrade.
I have 3 different sizes of crates. A small 22" for when they are young, then they graduate to the 30" and Sky is now in the 36" although Dancer still prefers the smaller, cozier 30". Mine are all wire crates, although the one Dancer uses is vinyl coated black with a plastic black tray, and that is what I will buy if I ever have to buy another. Much easier to clean, quieter, and not as cold as metal. I like the wire crates because it is open and they can see and hear everything. If I traveled a lot I would get the plastic air cargo type though, and I am going to investi n one of those soon for dog shows anyway.
As far as the collar goes, how much does the puppy weigh? Most oes are about 10-15 lbs at 8 weeks old. A pup that size will need a 10-12 inch long collar. It's best to get an adjustable collar to last the pup through till it is time to buy it's full grown collar. I bought 4 for Dancer, but with Sky I only bought two, both adjustable.
The clippers you don't need to be in a rush for. The puppy won't need to be clipped for quite some time, if at all. If you choose to keep in short coat, no problem, but as a puppy it is not usually high maintanence for their coat. Most grooming is done to make sure they are used to it, and for cleanliness, and so the clippers being run near the pup is a great idea so it is familiar with the noise.
I am excited for you too Mrs J!!! :) *hugs*
Danggit, and I wanted to buy new clippers!!! I think I'm getting spend crazy. Probably better you told me that. My cart is already past $300 for petsmart.

Everyone's info. is VERY useful. Not just saying that. I need details or I feel insecure about such a big move. You guys give me that.

...and to think, I'm the one MANY questioned about being a good owner of a Sheepie when I first came here b/c I went all nutsy about "do they shed." Bring it on! I'm ready to fill the "antics" board with daily chaos. lol
Er, did I miss something?? You're finally getting a sheepdog Joahaeyo? Ummm, could you post your thread with all the details if I've missed it?

Anyhow, I'm happy for you! I know we won't be in a short supply of photos!!!

regarding clippers, I would say you will need an upgrade if you're planning on doing the clipping yourself. I have a cordless clipper now which I'm about to throw out the window because it doesn't hold a charge long enough for me to get the hair out btw. Frank's pads.
Willowsprite, I'm off to buying more stuff again from that site you gave me. lol

I'm going to pay through the nose for shipping charges BUT I wanted to get exactly the brushes on the list, so what the hay. :)
Congratulations Joahaeyo! I havent been on for a few days and I see now you are getting your sheepie! I am so excited for you!
Any names yet? If you posted this already I am sorry I didnt see
Wizard, you guys are making me feel so good. What would I do w/o everyone's approval? I really do feel good being on this board. If we can just work out the little sister/brother type fights... teehehe

Here is the thread I have her first pic:

http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=2239

I have not got a final answer/decision from Mr. Joahaeyo regarding names, but I will say (between us...shh!) ...I bought tags today that said "Yuki" (You-Key).
OOOH! She is gorgeous! I love the name too! Oh to be able to smell that puppy breath! I'm jealous!
hugs,
Do y'all want to be my kid's God-parents when we finally have an upright? lol ;)
Metal is the way to go, the 42" is OK. You can get them cheaper at walmart. We went to petsmart to ask about th sizes, viewed them and then walked to the walmart in front of petsmart to get it. Make sure you get one with a divider to accomodate to your puppy as she grows.

Congratulations on your new dog!
thanks saulmr. she will also be handed to me in a size appropriate crate. We'll see if she favors one cushion from the other. I'm sure each will be in the washer machine in no time (pees).

She just went to the vet again and is getting weighed. I am not sure I want to know how much ...the horse... weighs. hehehe

My sister-in-law has named her "the horse" since we are a huge extended family of mostly all toy dogs. :D

That's funny because my mom nicknamed Louie "the tank" (mr. 3 months old and 30 :!: pounds)
lol - the tank sounds cooler. :D

3 months and 30lbs?!?!?! Oh my gosh, stop growing until daddy comes home!!!! lol

My friends have nicknamed ours "The Barking Cows"

Danita loves cows, and her office cleaning lady made a very funny remark the other day: "Everything in your home has a cow or looks like a cow... Even your dogs!"
