THINGS ARE LOOKING UP!!!!

Oh- what a year it has been. Crazy Family, illness, deaths, strokes..... some list huh.

We are still standing, and every day are so grateful for all of our friends and family, and the suport and love they have shown us. More times than not, humor has helped us cope.

As I mentioned last week, a dear friend died suddenly. There was a graveside service Tuesday, and , all of my sibling and both of my parents attended. The family of the man that died are dear, old family friends. We were neighbors growing up. Patricia, Todd's Mom, had brought a photo album to the cemetary and placed it at the urn. After the memorial, Patricia came up to our family, and asked us to look at some of the pictures in the album. For an hour, we stood there with Todd's family, looking at our memories. Pictures of my brothers and Todd and his brother Ty... dressed up like Kiss. Family pets and long forgotten birthday parties. We cried -- and we laughed. And with that- Todd's life was celebrated. The celebraton continued at Patricia's sister Tami's house. Tami was my best friend growing up, and it felt so good to connect again, even though the circumstances were so sad.

My friend that had a stroke is still in the hospital. Her stroke was caused by a "bleed" rather than a clot. She has had a bit more damage than I did, but is doing well. How ironic, that beginning Wednesday, she is going to be doing therapy at the same place I have been going!!! I was released to drive begining Monday, and so, I can pick her up and we will be working together. I am sure there will be many laughs with that scenerio. We were called into the office at work one time for laughing uncontrollably during a meeting.... I imagine our therapy will produce the same results.

John's brother, Mom and Stepdad are now home from Kentucky. Jimmy and Charlie were in the hospital for a total of 12 days. They are both doing well now. Charlie's sons were able to go get them, so it all worked out. Hummm... harder to find the humor with John's family but we are really trying!!!!! Let's just say we laugh at them, but they don't smile back.

Max has been so cute lately. He is really starting to jump and play like he used to, and getting up is so much easier. They said it could take 2 years for full mobilty to return. We will hit that mark in January. We love him, and, he is soooo very attentive and sweet. Our baby.

Lastly, I have been so worried about the outside work that needs done to get ready for winter. John has been getting some things done, but, I must say, I like to do things my way....

This morning - while we were still in bed, my nieces came running in and jumped on us, giving us quite a suprise. They are here today to work outside. I love this. I can be boss!!!! Right now, I am sitting on the deck, bellowing orders, and they are doing the work.... 8O . Seriously, it brings tears to my eyes to think how much we have. And... we have had many laughs this morning.

Guess what I am saying is-- life throws you curves. Always has, always will. How you catch those curve balls is important. My emotions have been right at the surface. I cry easy. But, I can still laugh just as quick.     For all it throws at us, life is still grand.

Lovely post, Lori. You are so right. Life has ups & downs. It's how we handle both that makes us or breaks us. Bravo to you for celebrating both.
