Does your Vet charge a medication refill renewal fee?

Just found out a few months ago our Vet charges a medication
renewal fee of $ 8.00

Would like to know if your Vet has a refill fee and if so
how much is it?

(We pick up the meds they are not mailed)

No, never.

What does a vet tech get paid an hour, about $15 an hour on the average? At that rate, they're saying it takes over a half an hour to refill a bottle?
How expensive are the meds? My vet charges enough on the meds that charging a refill fee would be gouging.

It might even be enough to make me rethink my choice of vets.
You know alot of human pharmacies carry the same meds at
a much cheaper price!

For instance at my old vet 56 Cephelexin was $58.00
(Costco was around 8.00)

My new vet is much more cost effecient!
we pick up some of our meds at walmart $4 a month!
You just have to "shop around" 8)

I get my heartworm prevention on line and
it is soooo much cheaper.
I have a wonderful vet (well several) never are we charged for doing a refill or calling in a prescription. There is a specialty group(which I don't use) that charges 35 for a 15 min phone consult Gee if my vets did this they would all have summer homes in Martha's vineyard :D
Nope. Never. But then again our main vet gives us lots of freebies. I spent two hours there earlier this week. He gave us the exam for free, and the blood work (including taking the blood). We paid for the x rays, and the medication itself only.

I can't imagine adding a dispensing/refill fee to the cost of meds. They are already so very super inflated already.

Once he gave us something to try "at cost." I think it was a third of what we eventually had to pay. For that amount, it seems awful to add a dispensing fee.

I know it's cheaper to get lots of meds from a people-pharmacy, but I really like the one stop convenience. I'm sure if I'd just get over that I'd be much richer though.
None of the vets I go to charge a fee for prescription refills. In fact, two of them suggested we check prices online (we now get Deramaxx and Proin online).

Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Abby
No, never a refill fee either.
I have one on 2 meds all the time for his heart. I usually just call and give them notice I am heading into town to pick it up. :D
