Does anyone know anything about French Bulldogs and pricing?

I can't recall anyone on here offhand that has a French Bulldog but I thought I'd ask if anyone might have a friend or family member who could answer a question for me. I'm trying to figure out a fare range of pricing for a French Bulldog from a quality breeder in my region.

A friend of mine has been wanting one and reading for years but has finally gotten to the point in her life where she'd ready to own one so she started making phone calls and she's getting prices from breeders in the $3500+ range. I know there are definitely added health costs involved with whelping a Frenchie litter but, wow, that seems really high.

Can anyone offer any insight?

Jill: I have a friend who has Frenchies & she also shows them. I'll see what I can find out for you.
Norma would know, I'll send you her number.
I know of a breeder here in California who asks that much...maybe it's not that far off.
I know it's silly to think this way, and absolutely wrong, but part of me feel like price should be based on size, lol.

I wound up e-mailing their breed education person and she was very helpful. She told me a fair range was $2500 to $5000 and was more than willing to help my friend in finding a pup.

I guess I'm still a little taken aback by that price. I suppose I understand but, wow, anyone whoever complains about the price of a quality Old English Sheepdog again needs to look at breeds like this to see what a deal an OES actually is!
A friend and my training mentor (and the previous owner of my dog school) was a French Bulldog fancier. She didn't breed much, but showed and advocated for the breed. She has since passed away, but I know they were in the $1000's+ range 10 - 20 yrs ago! :(
this website has some young French bulldogs that are from breeders that need adoption; maybe it would be a lesser expensive option?

I have no personal experience with them, just did some hunting around on the internet.

I think it's an inverse relationship. Well bred Maltese are going for $3,000-5,000 as well. Let's see at an average size of 6 lbs the price per lb would be.........
Great. Now I want a Frenchie in addition to an OES!
wow and add in the cost for earplugs when they start that bark/howl thing....
