Thanks Kristen...
It's been crazy here in the Desert. They don't have proper drainage here. Most of the main roads are closed because of flooding. I have to take a major detour to the OBGYN this morning. (Nine Months Pregnant today!!!) It would normally take me about 5 minutes from my house to the Dr's office in Palm Springs. Today it will take me at least 20 maybe more depending on traffic on the one road that is open. I usually use the main road at the end of my street but there are currently 2 rivers running through it and numerous boulders...etc.
FUN!!! The clouds broke this morning and the sun came out for a little while.. I was able to get a couple really great pictures of a Rainbow down the road. I just hope this is the end of the rain. We are so sick of it!!
Elissa
Elissa,

I'm so sorry to hear about the devastation in your area. I hope you, your family and your home stay safe! I saw a pic of a huge (20 feet tall I think) boulder that had been moved onto the highway by a mud slide 8O scary stuff indeed! Please keep us updated, and let us know how you are doing!

Karen :)
Well the sun has remained out today throughout most of the state... YEAH!!!! The Sun!!!
Roads are still flooded and my 20 minute detour took 35 minutes. I only went around 4.5 miles.
Oh well...at least I made it. I had to pass over a bridge going over a Golf Course that now has a river with Rapids running through it. I guess that's gonna cost a lot of money to rebuild.
The Dr said I could go at any time now... Being that I have a very small frame he doesn't think I will go full term. Knowing me it will happen when while the road is still flooded... That's my luck!!
My Son was supposed to go on a school trip today and it was canceled due to the weather. I am sure he will not be happy when he gets home. He was really looking forward to it.
I can't wait for it to dry out here. Pepsi is a mess and really needs a bath.
Elissa
Good Luck Elissa! You'll have to think of a baby name having to do with RAIN!

Wishing you a healthy, speedy, pain-free  deliver and a happy, healthy baby!

Kristen
I have no problems that can compare with Pepsi's Mom, roads are open, we just have the occasional [small] mudslide. I do however have a dog that has hardly been out of the house since Christmas! Poor Henry, we tried to go for our morning run 3 times this morning, every time it stopped raining we got haltered up and ready, we even made it down the driveway one time before it started to pour. Henry thinks I am the worst tease, we get ready to go and #$&% if it doesn't start raining. We had a little short walk this afternoon thank goodness. He is a puppy with a LOT of energy right now.
Elissa,
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a safe and healthy delivery!

I can't imagine what your part of the country must be going through, from looking at the pictures on the news. My heart goes out to all of you in California and Nevada.

Stay safe.

Chris
Sorry, I know it's not funny all of the people that are experiencing all the horrific problems from the flooding and landslides, and certainly my heart goes out to them.

But it was funny watching some of the snippets from your local news a couple of months ago when you guys got rain in LA and the reporters where acting like they were standing in a hurricane (this was before the landslides). You guys get so much sunshine not only does the ground need to figure out how to absorb the water, but the people have the harder time adjusting for sure.

We get a little bit of every kind of weather in NJ except the coldest it gets isn't too far below zero. We're used to rain here that is for sure. When it's pouring outside, Frank just sits down in the wet grass and looks at me, like "are you gonna kick the ball?" He could care less. But we've also had a lot of flooding a few miles from here that made the national news in July so we've had our fair share of a lot of water here.

There seems to be a lot of extreme weather in the US (& rest of the world) this year, hopefully the skies (& fault lines) will calm down soon.

And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Elissa that your roads will be clear when you're ready to deliver.
VerveUp,
I grew up in NJ so most of the time I laugh my head off when they break in on the TV with reports of Winter Storm Watch when all they are reporting is light rain. Normally, they do overexaggerate having "weather" here. But in the 3 years I have been here I have never seen anything like this.
To Top it off we had an Earthquake last night. It was a 4.3 and the first earthquake I have felt since moving here. I totally freaked out.
I was in the bathroom and ran into the bedroom asking my husband if that was an earthquake. I jumped into bed and had a panic attack.
My husband grew up in CA so it was no big deal for him. I was totally freaked out. It wasn't a big thing... just a little rumble then some shaking...but I actually thought the shaking was me. lol
The dogs completely slept through it. So much for doggie predictons.
Hopefully we are at the end of this crazy weather everywhere... It is really starting to get scary.
Elissa
I guess if I were 9 months pregnant I would think it was me rather than an earthquake too!! Oh boy, I think your delivery will be a breeze in comparison to this past week for you guys!
The weather has been odd.... and after seeing the movie The Day After Tomorrow I think I notice the weird weather even more. Of course, the things in the movie could not realistically happen, and certainly not in the time frame that it did....but still! LOL
We had an ice storm today, hundreds of car accidents all over the place, people falling, trees breaking, power lines sagging dangerously....
We're used to the cold, but it is just odd when it goes from minus 50 degrees with the windchill, to freezing rain,to 5 feet of snow, to above average temps, and back to 50 below. Our seasons are basically almost winter, winter, still winter, and a brief period of road construction.
Elissa, try to relax while you can.... and congratulations! :)
Stacey- are you SURE you don't live in MN? Don't you know that "There are two seasons Winter and Road Construction" is our state motto? It has been a bizarre winter. Even up here (or down here, depending on where you are from!)

Karen :)
Karen,
We have three seasons here in the Desert... #1 Windy & Hot #2 Welcome to the surface of the sun and #3 Almost Summer Again!! :P
Well except for this crazy year... It's been down right cold. 30's at night
Elissa
Today it was 18 degrees celcius!!! I don't remember this EVER happening here in January!!! Weird!
I agree with the strange weather, I live in Florida and have had the a/c on for the last two weeks. Winter lasted about 3 weeks for us. Plus, the day after Christmas, we had wind gusts stronger that we had during the hurricanes. We lost a few things off of the dock, and even the weather people were caught by surprise.
Good luck with the pregnancy Elissa! Remember to focus!
