My Little ........

DARLING. :D

Just want to brag my little girl is doing so well at obedience, today she was awesome, somehow the brain power was pumping right.

We have progressed to the drop stays and also we started the recalls and no lead on the recalls WOO HOO she came when called.

OK no big deal but it has been over 15 years since I have done obedience class with OES and this girl has Brains. :D

Syd well that is another story, I think my Hubby needs training too LOL.  Syd is taking longer for anything to click, he ponders and ponders then eventually the light goes on. Getting there with the big lug but have to work on Hubby so he knows what to do too. :P

Sheepie girls are way so much smarter I am sure of that. OK not starting a battle of the sexes war but SHEEPIE GIRLS RULE

My girl is much harder to train than the boy, but he is younger and eager to please. My girl is much smarter, therefore "she" has to decide if she wants to actually do what I ask of her. She is a talker, and it is very difficult to greet people in my home without scaring them. She is getting better, but she winds Nigel up and then I have two crazy sheepies greeting people. We are training for door manners and doorbell reactions. I have to say he is better about it than she is at this point.

Not that he is smarter though. 8)
Tonks and Luna are both pretty smart in my book. In the beginning of training, I thought Luna was my brains and Tonks was the pretty one. :| Luna would get it all right the first time, and Tonks just wasn't grasping anything... or so I thought.

When we changed trainers due to what we mis-took as aggression issues, Tonks stunned us. When the new trainer gave Tonks her commands the very first day we met, Tonks did all of them as well as Luna! Our difference was that Luna is a people pleaser, and Tonks was smart enough to play dumb. 8O

Now that the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, both girls are on pretty equal footing. I've never had to train a boy, so I have no input on that issue. But Tonks and Luna taught me that there may be no dumb sheepdogs; just smart ones, and smarter ones!!!

Yup, you got that right.

The good thing about being cognitively impaired is that they often ultimately tend to be more obedient around the house (when they grow up), if not the ring. It is my theory that they're not creative enough to be otherwise

My ten month old foster girl is a rocket in the smarts department. She would be so wasted in a non-working home. Are you intending to make an honest obedience dog out of your girl, titles and all? Or are you simply training her in self defence?

Actually hoping to progress with her for an Obeience Title as well as a conformation title later OH and self defence too  , she is so darn smart and needs working to burn off the bouncy energy she has, she is so sweet but so full of herself too. Energised the whole time and keep thinking when that battery is going to run down if ever  . So yes and I think it will be great for her both mentally and physically and for me too. I am actually really enjoying doing this with her after so many years away from the performance side of things.

"Syd" well beauty but not brains, I suppose you can't have everything in the big goofball but my hubby is enjoying the involvement and he is having fun with taking Syd into classes too :P   Probably just conformation side of things with him only

Hmmmm :lmt: two males being trained at the same time, I think I am onto a good thing here 8)
