Dodging deer, big horn sheep, and Dr. Marty

So, I'm driving across central Idaho, dodging deer at every bend on very dark winding roads, and reading signs that tell me I need to watch for big horn sheep on the road too. 8O

Thank god for sat radio! I'm tired of music, tired of the thousands of bail out financial reviews, so I start scanning and end up on the "Martha" channel. :? I'm so bored and road weary, I leave Martha to tell me what she knows.

But it's not Martha, it's her vet, Dr. Marty. I listen for a few minutes and I'm sucked in, this guy is great!!! He talked with callers about auto-immune, cancer, feeding, etc, etc, etc. He was a wealth of holistic/traditional knowledge. He is a great supporter of THE RABIES CHALLENGE FUND work.

He included several other "experts" while talking to folks about their pets, so they would have a good spectrum of advice.

At some point durning the show earthanimal.com was mentioned. I visted it today and it is full of great holistic products and advice.

I don't know when the show is scheduled, sat radio tends to repeat shows, but it's worth finding if you have Sirius.

At our dog a thon there was a vet that spoke of the same things I have already started titres on my dogs and have considered feeding raw. My vet does not like raw but there is a lot of sense in it. Also we , who have children, did not immunize them every year so why should we do our dogs?? I do know some human vaccines are not good forever and some equine vaccines have to be repeated but I am paying attention to the research.

Cindy I had to shop for a vet that didn't object to raw feeding. I have yet to find one that likes it, the best I got was one that tolerates it. And when Morgan was sick the emergancy vet we went to wanted to blame his symptoms on bad raw food

My guys are doing so well on raw it is amazing! getting started was harder on us (and Marley who took months to switch over and still will not eat a raw meaty bone). The boys - even the 8 year old one all took to it with gusto and the two older ones just look healthier as well as having more energy - okay not always a good thing in a sheepie

and my vet is doing titres when the guys come due for shots - I just skipped them last year as all agreed a one year break was not an issue.
