the low down on different Canadian breeders?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping I can get your opinions. I'm looking for people who have had experience with any Canadian oes breeders, to help me choose one. Now, we're not looking to adopt until the spring. I had the chance to adopt from blueshire last week, but it was too fast too soon, and we just couldn't do it. She was wonderful, her puppies are beautiful, it was a great experience speaking with her and I was sad that it couldn't have worked out. But I don't want to rush into anything. I also want to research breeders better and make sure to make the right decision. I've been in touch with a few Canadian breeders. Woodshadow, blueshire and taliahills. Some, I have talked to on the phone, some I have been in contact with via email. There are a few I have found that I haven't been in touch with yet, Breton, lakesong. Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you can pm me and help me narrow down who I should be looking at adpoting from. One lady (I'm not going to mention who) didn't have great things to say about some of the breeders, and it's made me feel like I'm not sure who to trust! I live in Manitoba, and most of the breeders are in Ontario. I simply cannot travel there first to meet them all, and I have to do this all over the phone and emails. Anyway, I know that I need to go with my gut and only I can make the decision. But if any of you have experience you can share with me, please pm me! Thanks!

I have been doing research in regard to OES for a few years now. I am waiting for our youngest child to reach age 5 and my husband to be ready for a dog. (He had a hard time when we had to put our cat down due to old age and mulitple health problems).

Is the Best of Breed OES show in Calgary on January 31, 2009 a good place to learn more about breeders in Canada? I also haven't been able to see if the public is welcome to this competition.

I want to take our family to this show also to see if any of us are allergic to the dogs. (I am allergic to dogs just praying not to OES, I am allergic to cats too and had one for 15 wonderful years).

I realize that people don't want to say things about breeders to avoid so if there are tips in trying to sort thru breeders and how to tell the good from the BYB, not to good breeder and puppy mills that would be great.

I have started now to look at CKC and AKC breed winners and who the breeders were and the blood lines to look at breeders. Is this a good idea?

Thanks for your help.
