I need help organizing my paper mess!

does anyone have any easy, foolproof, way to organize papers?
I have 2 XXL Bean Boat Totes with important papers, notes & receipts, etc
i tried using a notebook w/ dividers, but wound up shoving papers in it to "organizer later",later never comes.
I also need it to be portable as i go to my shore house often.

LOL, my only plan is actually sitting down to organize them [in dividers] the second they come in because our papers are just a mess. I have the SAME PROBLEM!!
I have a file divided into sections. When a new bill or whatever comes in I put in the section and remove the oldest one from the back and shred it!

I have a tray to put the stuff i need to deal with and set aside a time to do it all once a week!

Receipts I keep in a file and have a clear out either when my bank statement comes in or when the guarentee/warrenty runs out.
I've got most of my life paperless. All my bills are done online and anything that isn't, is immediately filed in a file cabinet that I keep just for bills, warranties and other important product information. For everyday receipts, I keep a small expandable file in the kitchen and when I come home, I empty my wallet of receipts and file them in the expandable file. Anything that I don't need is immediately shredded-- I actually put a shredder under the sink next to garbage disposable so as soon as I bring in the mail, all the junk is shredded.

I had a big throw down a few months ago myself and had it with all the backed up mail. The shredder has improved my life immensely.
i pay all my bills online too. I accumulate other stuff.
I have tons of papers pension, hospital bills & receipts, all stuff pertains to Larry's death. I have receipts, notes to myself which I never look at.
do anyone have a great system for "to do" things.
I used to have things very organized, but since Larry's illness & death I didn't deal w/ anything. Now it is out of control 8O !
What type of file do you all use?
I have many & none work. thx!
I just organized mine last week. I have the same problem, just throwing things in a drawer and saying I'll file it later. Well, last saturday I was disgused with all the "file away later piles" I cleaned out the bottom drawer in the computer desk, got those little folders with tabs on the side and created a file cabinet system. It is working out pretty good so far. I just have to keep pushing myself and filing things as soon as I get them. That is the major hurdle for me.
What about an expandable file folder - I keep re-arranging my filing system to work with my hubby. I am really detailed and he is not. Our compromise was a folder for each month or slot in an expandable folder. Within the folder all unpaid bills are kept in a red plastic folder see through. I am big on shredding too. I like to get ride of the "junk" right away.

Good luck on the organizing project.
