OES in IL Need Homes

If anyone knows of a GOOD home we are looking for 2 or 3 homes.

1 ½ year old male, neutered and good with kids. His family is having financial difficulties and finding a rental in the Springfield area with 4 kids and one large dog is proving very difficult.

Also, we have 2 seniors—one male and one female whose owner died. The kind neighbor took them in but she works all day and is not “a doggie person”. The male does not do stairs so he would need a ranch type environment.

If anyone wants an addition or knows of a good home please contact

Sally Carr at 847-464-4531

I don't know. I'll send an inquiry to Sally.
Hi, Stacy.

I know the family of the 18 mos old feel very strongly that he should go to a home with kids. He lives with 4 of them under the age of ten right now as I recall and is evidently quite wonderful with them. I don't know what Chicagoland's policy is on adopting out to families with kids, but since so many OES come with a "no kids" assessment attached, I'm kind hoping for the little guy that he ends up in a family with some youngsters, you know? :D

Either way, he sounds like a very nice dog all around.

Yes, he's fine with dogs :D . He hasn't been exposed to cats.
Stacy-

Do you happen to know if they need to keep the 2 seniors together? Any idea what their ages are?

Thanks for the interest! Unfortunately, I don't have more information. I have sent an inquiry and will post upon receipt. Please feel free to contact Sally Carr at 847-464-4531. Thanks!
Thanks Stacy. I might know someone, I'll give her a call if they're interested.

That would be fantastic!

I found out that it would be preferred for the two seniors to be placed together. Vet records are pending to verify the ages.

I received pictures and the pups are adorable. They look well maintained and just need a little bath for those dirty chins :D .

If you're interested in seeing the pictures, please send me a PM with your email address. Thanks!
I've posted more information about the seniors at.

Stacy, I think Adele MacAskill is taking both the seniors. I know she offered but don't know if any policy would prohibit them from going to Canada. I offered to take them across the border so when I hear more I'll let you know.

Holly, Jan G and I were just discussing getting them to Michigan this coming weekend depending on who from Michigan is coming to sheepiefest.

I don't know exactly which rescue group will be handling the placement, and I don't think it really matters, because I'm pretty sure I can predict that even if there are normally geographic limitations, there would be an almost guaranteed exception for Adele who is well known in the OES community.

How exciting is that!!!!!! :go:
I don't know if any of you remember me........I was on here, way back before we got Wrigley.

We are broken hearted right now. My poor health and many trips to Mayo Clinic have taken a huge toll on us, financially, along with my not being able to work because of my illness. We've been looking for about 3 months for a home for our handsome guy. I'm so sad, thinking of when I was on this forum, anticipating getting him and the excitement my children had then. He has been and continues to be our bright spot and it will be tremendously hard to give him up.

That said, I just would like to express that he doesn't have to go to a home with kids. It would be nice but he's really just a people lover and I don't want him to not get a wonderful home because I was too picky.

Sally has been wonderful and we have someone coming for an interview this weekend but I just don't know. I REALLY would like him to go to someone who has had previous sheepdog experience. I may call them tomorrow and have them wait a week or so, I just don't feel any "connection" right now. I'm really not trying to be picky but really need to see him placed in the right home. He's like my fifth child and I love him so much.

If any of you know of anyone, we would really appreciate it if I could have the knowledge that he will be o.k. - this is one of the hardest things we've ever had to do................

Thanks.
Wrigleys family, I'm so sorry you have to give up your precious boy :(

Kristine, I talked to Adele and told her I will pick them up somehere, take them across, and meet her in ON. Anyplace along I94 is perfect, maybe near Metro Airport? I'll call Jan and see what arrangements can be made but it's certainly doable.
I am so sorry you have to find a new home for your much loved sheepdog. There are families out there that will love him, believe it or not as much as you do. I have two "re homed" sheepdogs and they are the light of my life. I enjoy them so much. I hope things health wise work out for you, just know I am thinking of your family at this difficult time in your life.
Wrigley sounds like a nice boy - how big of a boy is he? We have two cats so how do you think that would work? We also have 2 girls and 1 sheepie.

Thanks

I can vouch for the sheepie. The two girls seem very nice too! Haven't met the cats

Kristine
Wrigley is a nice boy - he is the puppy we babysat last summer.

I am so sorry to hear that you need to find him a new home. He really is like the 5th child in your family. :(

:ghug: hugs to you all, sorry your posting again is with such sad news. :ghug:
Oh that's good that someone can take Max & Katey. I checked with my sis-in-law, but she couldn't take 2 of them right now.

Let me know if you need any help moving them....i'm right near Midway (where I believe they are temporarily?) I can do this week, plus we'll also be leaving for vacation out East around Sat or Sun (10/4-5).

Sue
Wrigley&Family, I sent you a pm and hope to hear from you soon.
My understanding is that Wrigley has gone to a neighbor of this family and is no longer available for adoption
Great news for Max and Katie, they went their wonderful new home near Toronto today :) . They are truly two of the sweetest dogs I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Max has a bit of a mobility problem and Katie looks after him as only a sister can. A huge thanks goes to Adele and Jim who drove all the way to Sarnia to get them and will provide the best home a dog could have.
