Happy-Peeing?

Now that I got your attention with such a great subject title! :) hehehehe

I am wondering if anyone knows if there's a way to stop, well, happy peeing?! Our 13 week pup is basically house broken- she does her duty outside & even goes all night without any accidents at all (we keep a baby-gate in the doorway of our bedroom & she stays in there with us at night)... but she always pees when she gets excited, or when she plays hard or when she *gasp* meets new people! (talk about your first impressions! LOL!) I'll bring her out promptly after playtime, but sometimes she pees mid-playtime! I also try to warn new people not to approach her too quickly, as she'll get excited & pee on their shoes! But what is the worst (and I know it's not her fault) is when our 3-year old son gets her wound up and jumps onto the couch, making her follow him & she pees! We don't allow her on the couch because it's brand-new & we have an old easy chair that we let her sit in, which she loves, because now it's only hers, but lately she's been trying to claim the couch too! And when she's snuck onto it in the past, she's left us great parting gifts! Eekk!

Anyways....

I know a lot of adult dogs who do the happy peeing too, but I'm not sure if it's something you have to just deal with, maybe something she'll grow out of (as her muscles fully develop)... something like that?
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! :)

She's still a baby! Her bladder control is iffy at best. Plus she is still socially shy. With maturity her physical control will improve and with you, as a calm leader, teach her (and tell people who meet her not to use their squealy voice, but rather ignore the puppy at first) you are in charge of social meetings and will direct when people get to meet her. Don't let your ego allow people to get all gushy around the puppy. In polite dog society, the humans greet humans and then the pack leader dictates when puppy greets humans.

Some dogs never gain control of social peeing. I hope she isn't one of them. In the mean time, carry wipes.
Good luck! My almost 4 Maggie still does this when she is super-excited, such as when boyfriend comes to visit and she's alone in the house with him. She's over the moon with delight and just lets loose.
I am sure there is a body of literature somewhere on training to overcome submissive peeing. I tis one problem we have never had so I really am not familiar with it. if you are looking tough the term would be submissive peeing.
