I know it's early but... holiday cards again???

Ok I seem to start thinking about this earlier and earlier each year but...... are we all doing the holiday card exchange agian this year????? Is it too early to start thinking about it??

Actually no, not too early at all... really, it's such a busy time of year anyway, it's hard to believe it's only 14 weeks til xmas 8O
I know thats what I mean, and I have my eye on some cute cards at costco in bulk and I am arranging a photo session with a client at the emergency animal clinic I work at so I wanted to figure out how much its going to cost and scheduling and all that.
I dont know if anyone is interested in doing the list this year?? I would offer myself but if there is anyone with more experience and would like to do it that would be awesome.
This will be the first year I will be part of this!!!! I am so excited!!!!
I'm curious....how does it work? Is it a huge list and everyone sends? Or is it broken into smaller groups? And can anyone who is interested participate?

Enquiring minds want to know... :?

Everyone who wants to participate sends their names and address to the person coordinating it. Then we get a copy of the final list and mail cards to all the people.
Last year there was a sub group just in the UK, as postage costs were so high to send to all in the US and other continents.

We all proudly display them - here is a picture of mine from 2007 when most had been sent out -

Eventually the whole white wall was covered! It was great. :D
Sounds like a lot of fun...I would definitely be interested in something like that.
I've been thinking about this for the last few days! We are definitely in!! It was so exciting last year!

:cheer:
We get cards made every year to send to our special friends in the sheepie world and the list seems to get longer every year.

Last year we sent cards to almost every country in Europe and also some to the states.
Yup, highlight of the Christmas season for me.

In the past Chris has coordinated the list, maybe if we begged she would do it again. It's always nice to have the final list together toward the end of December.

For those who have not done it, the cost can add up but believe me it is worth EVERY PENNY you spend. The "sheepie joy" that arrives in your mailboc DAILY throughout December is priceless.

Ginny, I never noticed the treadmill in that picture before.
How handy - eat at the dining room table then hop on the treadmill and wear it off!
hahahah, actually it is an eliptical!!

I always tell my patients NOT to stick their exercise equipment in a basement or back room but to keep it OUT where they will be reminded to use it every day. I practice what I preach  But actually I've recently moved it to the kitchen where it's just as visable.

That picture was a few years ago!
:clappurple: Ohhh Yes! I want in too!! I saw SheepieMommy's cards displayed last year and thought it was so neat!

Christmas is not too far away!!!

Julie & Addie
oooh; I didn't know about this! I'd love to join in and send all of our online Sheepie pals holiday cards!
I've been coordinating the list for the past 2 Christmas seasons, and I'd be very happy to do it again! I already have the list from last year, so all it would need was a little tweaking to add, change or remove people.

Looking back, I see I started the process towards the end of Sept 2007, shooting for a November 1 issue date. I am in the process of changing my email address, so when that's complete, I'll start the process again.

Below is a link to the first time I posted it on the forum last year, for the new members who would like some basic info. The best way to reach me right now is through a PM here on the forum, at least until I have my home email address changed.

This has been a great experience, and the cards received are just the BEST! When my son came home for Christmas, the first place he headed was to the sheepie card display - he couldn't have cared less about the other non-sheepie ones!

Can't believe it's time to start thinking about this again . . .

THANKS CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!!
This sounds like so much fun!! :D :D :D Count Charlie's family in!! What do we need to do??
I just traded PMs with Drezzie's Mom and she told me it was okay to PM her my mailing address. I hope I'm not jumping the gun by sharing this, but I think it would be okay for other folks to do the same? Drezzie's Mom; is that cool?
Yep, totally cool. What I need from new members who want to be on the list:

- Full name and mailing address
- Email address (to receive the list - no one will see your email address)
- Pet(s) names
- Can you open a Word document?

For returning members, please remember to let me know if any of your information changed - home address, email address.

Thanks!
Thanks Chris for doing the list again this year!

For our overseas members I will volunteer again this year to act as your US Postal Service. Last year "Vicki and George" sent me her cards from England in a bulk envelope and then I individually mailed them with US postage. She put the US equivalent in Pounds Sterling for the US postage in the envelope. I work for an airline and travel worldwide, so foreign currency is not a problem for me, plus it saves both of us exchange fees in the end! Postage from Europe to the US is very expensive so this allowed her to participate and saved her quite a bit of money. I suspect if you are organized and can get your cards out to me in Nov. you can send them "slow boat" and save even more.

Just as an FYI US postage went up to $0.42 this year for an envelope weighing 1oz or less.

Just PM me if anyone would like to do this.

I can't wait for the cards to begin coming in.

Kathie
Kathie, that is really nice of you!! It was really sad last year when some of our out of the US memebers formed their own list. I understand that the postage can be alot but getting cards from all over the world is such fun!!!
^^^

I agree!! I totally understood but it seemed to defeat the original purpose of the card giving from one mailing list. Whatever works though.

I've totally been thinking about christmas cards! Although not sure when we'll get a pic though!

I actually was hoping we'd have a lot more cards last year. Seemed like a lot of people signed up but then had other things come up. :(
oooooh count us in again this year :D
This is definitely one of the highlights of the Christmas season for us, too. Everyone who visits oohhss and ahhhsss over all the sheepie cards. I can't wait to check the mail every day. And I've already been thinking about how to do the cards and pictures this year. So, by all means, Chris, sign me up!! :excited: All my info is the same as last year.
Chris, thank you for volunteering to coordinate the list. It's a big job and I appreciate your efforts.
