The sweetest part to me... along his journey is on the way

Good luck on the trip Marty!

I hope you have a safe drive and we will look for you soon.
When are you getting in?

We are heading up sometime Sunday afternoon. Lucky me, this year it is only a 2 hour drive.
Last year when we drove to MI, we also made a multipurpose trip - we dropped off our foster basset Honey in her new forever home in Marshfield WI. And, I was lucky enough to visit her this summer when we went to a show there. :D
I am leaving Sat. afternoon for the national. My Mom is coming along with me this year. Expecting to arrive Sunday afternoon. Marty.....where in Ohio are you stopping to take Grandma out to dinner? We live in Ohio.
I'm leaving late this afternoon. I hope gas prices don't get as high as the news is reporting :( . Anyone know if we should bring shorts or snowshoes?
My weather report says in the 70's & 20% chance of rain most day but sunny. Better than Ohio right now!
Everyone have a GOOD time !!!!and a safe journey :D
The weather forecast is really good.
Highs about 70-75, sunny. Lows about 50. The low is right before sunrise, so plan on some cool, dewy mornings. Lots of events for performance are early, so plan on it being in the 60's until lunchtime. For me, that is sweatshirts and jeans weather. And a t-shirt under for when it gets warmer and the sun shines on me! The humidity has dropped too - crisp fall weather.

We have been having this nice weather for a week already, and the dogs just LOVE it!

Marilyn - has your Mom been approached to help?? We would love stewarding help for Wednesday morning during Rally and obedience for our Specialty. (That is my dept, and I bet they could use help later in conformation too). That plea goes for any of you that have free time - find me!! :D

I haven't been to town yet to see about gas prices. I know they can't be as bad as they were in May when it averaged $4-plus when we drove out to NY and the Cape for my daughter Lisa's graduation!
Ours was $3.43 yesterday afternoon, and was $3.59 last night.
Dawn: I'll ask her but you are looking at an 83 year old retired school teacher! If you have a couple small items for her to do she may be able to help you out. She is very alert mentally!

How about adding scores and doing paperwork stuff at the table? That sounds like something she would enjoy. And it's a sit down job!
If she is interested, we would love to have her. :D
Marty will be there Tuesday (maybe Monday) but, his
reservations are for Tues...

Dawn, I am sure Marty would be happy to help steward
when he is not competing (he is only in two events)
I can find out when he is going in if you are interested

My family lives in Mt. Vernon, Mt. Gilead and Sparta
(central Ohio)
Marty will be in that area....
Where in Ohio are you??
(I was just there two weeks ago)

Sure!
Is he doing rally excellent and advanced?
Any obedience?

Chewie and I are in conformation and RE on Wednesday, so I can help with obedience too. But, we need several stewards for posts, scoresheets, table steward, getting people lined up. Entries aren't that high, but it runs smooth with enough help. :D
Thanks!
I hope he and Murphy have a fun trip.
I think he is just doing Rally Excellent...
(guess he signed up twice to be sure????)
:lmt:

They are not doing obedience because, Murph
just doesn't do well on "stand for exam"...
he likes his space

I know everybody is going to have a blast!!! :D

Or is he going for his RAE? Then you enter both advanced and excellent and try for qualifying scores in both to get a leg.

Chewie isn't that excited about regular obedience either. He really loves rally though. He gets to act like a clown and gets praised for it!
You know, I really don't know....
It is confusing to me how all that works.
I do in fact know what an NQ is

Murphy is a nervous nelly but, he seems to
enjoy rally too!
Maxmm and I left this morning. We are currently in Indiana which is kind of mid-point for our ride. We are going to try and leave around 8 tomorrow and hope to be at the hotel early evening. Mandy's been great with the in car entertainment - a DVD player on the dashboard. We'll be watching Smokey and the Bandit tomorrow morning while we're driving.

Everyone please be safe, especially with all of the storms in the midwest.

Harry, Heart, Judi and I are leaving tomorrow morning...I am so excited---hope I will be able to sleep tonight---we have a very long drive.

Can't wait to see everyone!!!

Everyone have a safe, fun trip!!!!!
The S.S. Sheepie should be departing in about an hour. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing given the forecast.

I am getting excited about seeing everyone and trying not to think about who won't be holding my hand at the agility ring. (yes Kristine I am talking about you - you will have to read about our disaster and my subsequent nervous breakdown here on the forum)

Read about it? Please! Like I won't have spies ringside on the phone with me giving me a play-by-play

You underestimate the boy. I saw him at Purina Farms. He's a really nice working dog!!!!!

Just to be safe I have several back-up people posted around the show site to hold VAL'S hand should you actually have the planned nervous breakdown

I believe you have my cell number on speed dial....

You'll have fun.

Kristine
Talked to Nita a little while ago, if you are traveling through
Illinois, Chicago is a mess.
Seems alot of the streets are flooded....
Stay safe everybody!

Oh, I can hear the prank calls already...
We are here as well. It is a solid floor of OES!
I am 112, with Sunny (Lucali) joining me tomorrow.
Val and Judy are here in 109 (hope they are OK with the room disclosure)
Nita and Yvonne are close -then we will be heading out for a late supper.
The rain has continued all day, but is supposed to stop overnight with sun and 66 for tomorrow.

That's good. Must be across the hall from Michelle R. She is next to me in 114.

We will hunt him down tomorrow!
Marty is exhausted....he and Murph had a long trip today!

Marty called me earlier and said he had the scare of his life!
He was driving and looked back at Murph (passed out)
He said..."I didn't think he was breathing"
He pulled off the road, slammed on the brakes and threw Murph in the floor!
Murph had a look of "What the hell???"
Marty jumped in back and gave him hugs/kisses!

Silly boys
They are there safe and sound!!!!!!

Good luck you guys!

Seriously, I bet he did about have a heart attach!
I met them this morning, Murphy is definitely just fine! :D
:D
What's this I hear that there are going to be sheepies on the
news in St Paul tonight????

Can't wait to see it!
the web site is
www.kare11.com

Not sure when it will be on there, I guess after 6!
Try this link, Kathy. Michelle posted it to the performance list:

http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article ... 1&catid=14

Dawn said he's hanging out with the main forum crew at the Top 20. Very brave of him if you ask me

Kristine
Oh geesh....hope he minds his manners!!!

He is a good guy and he loves his sheepies, I hope
Murphy actually goes OVER the jump tomorrow as
he DID NOT demonstrate for the news crew!

Michelle's girl is sooooo cute!

Um - I only saw them as a quick flash, but my impression was he was sending him over Michelle's Mattie's obedience jump height and not what Murphy needs to jump for rally. Murphy had that look that mine sometimes give me when I take the heights up to quickly. It's not an issue of athleticism, but confidence. Mattie looked a little shocked too when she was asked to retrieve right into a camera, but the angle was very cool.

I wouldn't be worried about MARTY's manners. From the chatter going on I'd be surprised if he got a word in edgewise! He's probably wondering why the dog world is so estrogen-driven and plotting how to bring more men into the game as we "speak"

Kristine
Thanks Krisitne
That is what Marty said that the jump was higher than he is used to!
As tall as he is seems he could have stepped over!
Momma's bratty boy!~
I miss them!
Marty and Murphy made it home!
Murphy was excited to see his pups at home!
Marty took some awesome pics that I will get up soon
BUT, for tonight I have to groom a foster sheepie going to
his new home tomorrow!!
Thank you all for making Marty and Murphy feel so welcome!
Marty and Murphy were awesome to hang with!! And a big congrats on the new title :yay:
