ugh, what have i done???

i just gave walter a haircut, by hand, with scissors. he was in full coat and matted so i decided to give him a 'puppy cut'. needless to say he looks completely insane. like his legs and head belong to a different dog than the rest of his body. haha, ugh.

once i get over this feeling of total embarrassment i will post pictures. in the meantime can someone give me tips on how to fix this mess without clippers?

i wish! walter has gotten himself kicked out of 5+ groomers. im in the process of begging my friend who is a groomer to come over and help me. shes had the pleasure of grooming him before though so she is less than excited about it

the kicker is that my parents are out of town for my dad's 50th right now. i never thought id say this at 25, but they are going to kill me when they get home!!
LOL ah poor guy - but I bet he LOVES it!!!
come on heather, lets see....maybe we can guide you thru a fix up before your parents get home and kill you.....
I'd just call it a pink do and leave it at that  PICTURES PLEASE, we promise we won't laugh!!!
Well, at least he's done. MO is going around with 1/3 short and the rest shaggy. Not until she was bathed did I realize I had cut against the hair fall creating two very nice furrows across her ribs. She's less than thrilled about me finishing her......can't blame her.

For Wally, bathe, fluff and if still worse, buy a sweater.

Seriously, take to a groomer to have the trim evened up.
Awww show us some pics. No one laughed at my 'haircut' Poor guy hides now when he sees me headed to the scissor drawer.
Hope your friend is in a good mood and ask very nicely. I cut Obe last year myself and I haven't done it since nor has anyone else for that matter, full coat.
I have to ask... what did Walter do to get kicked out of 5+ groomers???

Cosmo was just groomed (read: shaved) yesterday... I always feel that he's pretty upset with us when he's not full coated. Have most of you out there had your dogs (non-show dogs) shaved a time or two?

hm whats this about cutting against the hair fall? is that just for clippers or scissor cutting too? i need all the help i can get here!

Walter is a madman at groomers, he got kicked out of a grooming academy for biting the teacher. He also gets really anxious and last time had diarrhea in his crate :( I can't take him back for his sanity and theirs.

(pictures waiting approval)
Awe, that's not that bad!
Just keep fluffing and trimming - he will look fine. I think it's just the fact that he's 1/2 done that look crazy. It all improves when it evens up a bit!
I hope your parents didn't kill you or take away too many privileges.

sorry

Well to an outsider - it sounds to me like Walter had a traumatic time at the 1st Groomers and has carried on reacting badly to them, he sounds like he trusts his family, but the different settings of the groomers upsets him to much!

As for cutting/clipping tips, I have had enough kicks in the head from ticklish feet not to advise others!
Hi heather,
You have my sympathies. Dudley has also been kicked out of a number of groomers (something about their personalities??????). I have been lucky. I found an absolutely wonderful groomer, who has the patience and kindness to work with Dudley. He is at the point where the only place you really can't get anything done is his face and yes he can look somewhat silly when he is finished, but he is clean and trimmed! Good luck and I know you love your "problem child" as much as I love mine!
Kathie
Kathie do you think Dudley's groomer would come to Chicago??

After a lot of snipping and fluffing he really doesn't look that bad. And Ron you will be happy to know that I got no privileges taken away

Glad Mom & Dad wasn't too upset :phew: But remind them it's only hair & it will grow

Chauncey was in long coat & I was doing well keeping up with it until Bob & I had an accident 2 weeks ago. We were in our NEW jeep ( now demolished ) when we were run over by a tractor/trailer. Long story made short, we were on our way home from Baltimore, only 5 miles from home. Traffic was terrible on I 70 because of rain. Traffic came to a stop and the truck did not. He was estimated to be doing 40mph when he hit us from the rear and knocked us 100 ft up the interstate. We have bumps and bruises and are stiff & sore, but consider ourselves very lucky, and convinced that divine intervention saved us that day.
I'm still having some pain and spasms in my neck & lower back, and just haven't been able to get down ( I don't have a grooming table ) to brush him out, not to mention not being able to get back up! I finally got him to the groomers on Tuesday and he's naked and falls coming.
I feel so guilty.
But it is only hair and it will grow.................
If you are coming up to MN for the OES deal, there is an AWESOME groomer up here that is really close to the event. They dealt with my parents wheaten terrier that was kicked out of a number of places. The groomer even wrote a "how to groom the terrible Duncan" letter for their new groomer in Florida. We take Maggie to her and she has done an AWESOME job every time.

Phew! Glad he looks better to you and glad you can still use the car!

(But it was the corporal punishment that had me worried) 8)
ha ha ha! Poor Walter!

I did this to Barney last summer. Hubby was working long hours at the hospital, and we were living in our tiny apartment waiting for our new house to be ready. I was bored. Barney I decided was 'too hot' and I got out a bottle of wine and the scissors 8O

He looked like he had a disease when I was done
