A funny thing happend on the way home from work......

As some of you know I just lost Remo three weeks ago. Even though it was so soon I had looking into possible adopting another OES from a rescue group for me and our 4 year old Lab. I had even pretty much picked one out.
Last Thursday night I was on my way home from work when I almost hit a German Shephard on the four lane. Not only did I almost hit it, a car going the other direction almost hit it as well. I don't normally pick up big dogs off the road in the middle of the night but for some reason I stopped. As soon as I opened the door this dog jumped into my car and layed down in the back seat. He didn't have a collar and was covered in burrs. I drove around looking for what might be his home but all there was nearby was old trashy looking places. I know that sound snobby. Well, I took him home and promised my boyfriend I'd find him a home. The next day at work I did find him a good home with people who own a farm but my boyfriend decided he wanted to keep him for the weekend and take him to the lake with us. I took him to the vet before we left and got his vaccinations. The thought he was a little under a year, still squats to pee. He is obviously a full blooded Shephard and has been neutered. He is really sweet and layed back. He has taken to us and already seems to be happy where he is. Our Lab loves him so now I own a German Shephard. We named him Fraizer. I don't know much at all about German Shephards. I wanted a sheepdog and got a shephard. Life is so weird.

When God closese a door.......Frazier jumped through the window....

What a heartwarming story. Can't wait for pictures of this angel -boy!!!!1
Awwww. Pictures please!
Awww how sweet he was looking for you. You'll find shepherds have such a different personality than sheepies. WHere sheepies want to tease, shepherds want to please. They are great.
I'm so very happy for you! As someone already said, when one door closes another opens. You may very well find that you and Frazier get very, very close due to your open heart and his need to fill it up with love. I have had a pure bred GS and they are fantastic dogs, very loyal, very smart, and always laid back!

again, I'm very happy about this turn of events.
Congrats Ashley on the new sheperd.....
Remo sent you a pup!
Enjoy!
Congratulations to you and Frazier . My story is similar in that we were looking for a sheepie to rescue and came across a very needy sheltie pup. I knew the rescue involved with his care and couldn't resist his hard luck story. So I came home with the most , frightened and neurotic 7 month old pup you would ever have occasion to meet ! I assured my husband it was only for a short term socialization period. Our standard poodle is particularly good as a therapy dog for shy and fearful dogs. Well ,6 months later and Jamie is still with us and there is unfortunately no more room at the inn. Three dogs is it for us so my sheepie will have to wait for another time. Life intervened and gave me a sheltie. And he is much improved and slowly coming out of his shell . We love him and he loves us. I'm sure Jamie was meant for us and Frazier is meant for you !
That was you?? You were considering my current foster girl, Roxie. 8) When I heard the story of you acquiring a GSD, I had to laugh. A true dog lover! Frazier spoted you and wanted you for his own. Can't blame a smart dog for that now can you?? Congrats! :P
Awww...congrats!

Oh, btw, Barney is 4 and he still squats to pee

Jack does both depending on his mood and topography. Fox always squatted. It's a matter of what feels good to the hips, topography, need to "high mark".

Congrats on the new pup. There's still room for Roxanne........ There are four hands for petting in your home, they aren't filled.

Morgan is almost three and although he occasionally lifts a leg - he usually squats.
That has made me cry, one door closes and another one opens. The GSD has definitely found a loving home....xxx
