WWWHHHAAATTTT!?!?!?! New one on me...

My husband was just getting ready to take baby Hudson to puppy class today. I was in the living room with Portage (who was ticked he wasn't going anywhere), and Hudson was in the living room with us, staring at the door, bum wagging.

Without moving a muscle up front, up went a back leg, and with no warning Hudson peed right there in the living room. (We are down to maybe one accident a week, but sheesh....I didn't see this one coming.)

He got a few dribbles on the floor, but completely filled his own food bowl.

HIS OWN FOOD BOWL! Huh?

Now I'm delighted at the ease of clean up, but honestly...IN HIS OWN FOOD BOWL?

Is this normal? Or is my dog just crazy?

Of course the second he was done he ran to the door, and did his happy happy leash dance. As if NOTHING out of the ordinary just happened.

My jaw is still hanging down...

8O 8O 8O

Even Portage walked over to the bowl, sniffed its contents, and made the most perplexed face.

Tracie :o
Portage :?

Well it is obvious! He has been in the bathroom the same time as a man and just realised that is what is done. It wasn't his fault he mixed up his food bowl for the toilet bowl!
That's as logical as any other answer..........sometimes you wish they could speak and we could ask them "What was that all about?"
ever thought "like hey my bladder is full, I have been patiently waiting by the door, mum will go nuts if I pee on the floor, soooooooo!"

I wish it was on camera!!
Maybe he was letting you know it was his food bowl by marking it. I have had boy sheepies do that one before...yuk!!
The first day i had Tonks and Luna home, I can't recall which did it (probably Tonks), but they were fascinated by their water bowl. The culprit worked so hard to get all four paws into the bowl. And once that was achieved, they just peed there.

Your story reminded me of that. Never happened again, but the one time was just too funny.
My horse pees on the pile of hay to claim it from the sheep. 8O

In my book, he can HAVE it!!!!

Also, Tazz my little min pin with CHF is on diuretics. He sometimes can't hold it and pees in the dish in his crate to keep his bedding dry. :D
At least he lifted his leg! Ludo has been peeing like a girl since day one! As a puppy it was no big deal, but as he's gotten older, he often pees on his front feet. At first I was sure he'd grow out of it, but I've only seen him lift a leg once or twice when he was *really* determined to pee on a shrub. We've kept a small tub of water outside (or kiddie pool) to rinse his feet off before he comes in, but with winter coming that won't last long.
I have had a few sheepie boys that never lifted their legs to pee...then there is Nigel who has been lifting his leg since he was 8 weeks old. Pretty funny at that age...they almost fall over.
