The Bear

The bear decided to pay his/her annual visit. I can say for last ten years you can set a watch to it. Late Aug through late Sept around 10-11 pm he/she will come and turn the dumpster over (bear proof top/latch, not happy about that).

Obe does not care for the bear AT ALL! Highly upset there was something outside on his turf and he could not go check it out. From the front door to the back, onto the couch to look out the windows then to his perch (out cropping with windows all around and his bed). All accompanied by the deep upset bark. After getting him calmed down and when safe we went to the porch and observed so he could see there was nothing there anymore.

Sometimes it is great to wake and have wildlife deer, elk, etc. Sit on the porch have some coffee and enjoy the morning. I dont even mind the bear coming around. I did move into the mountains and I'm 100% sure he was here long before any human. But why does he have to tip the dumpster over every time. The first couple of years it wasn't bear proof but for the last 7 or 8 it has been. You would think he would remember. Or maybe he does and tipping it over his him getting the last laugh. I'm almost positive it's the same bear as we have seen him pretty close up year after year.

Why end a tradition?
Sounds like the bear is messing with you.
Yep, this is when they are really hungry and have consumed everything else. It is funny about remembering the rubbish contain once held goodies......maybe he's hoping for some oil or grease to seep out.
He's hoping that you will forget to lock it. And just in case, he has to check it.
He's set a reminder in his little bear blackberry to make sure he doesn't miss you. And he's certain you'd feel neglected if he didn't make his annual appearance, so I guess you just have to roll your eyes at that.

I know a dumpster is a big pain. That's unfortunate. We have an evil raccoon who hits our garbage cans EVERY night. Part of the morning routine is get up, pee, feed dogs, take dogs out for pee, clean up garbage from front of yard, wash hands, brush teeth...etc. Sometimes I sit on the step three feet from him and watch him destroy our garbage. If I clean it up at night he hits it a second time, so we leave it for the morning. I live in the middle of a city of 700 000. It's not like he wanders in from the forest! And yes, we have locking cans, but he throws them around so badly that trees get damaged and they eventually pop, so why bother?

Isn't it funny how animals really do have their own minds and agendas?
