Family member very ill

My husband John’s oldest brother Jimmy is in grave condition. He had a quadruple bypass two weeks ago, and last night developed septic shock. This is an infection that ravages the body, shuts down organs, and is hard to control once it starts. We have been at the hospital all night, and keep hoping for improvement. We feel helpless, and all we know to do is pray. I am writing this in hopes that you will keep him in your prayers too. We are hoping there is power in numbers.

Thank you.

I am setting the vibe machine up to top gear, and hoping all will be well. look after yourselves....xxxx
Lori: I am so sorry to hear about your brother in law, and yes prayers and positive thoughts are going your bil way. I want you to know that people do survive this, even though it is a really long road...both my Mother, who had it at 79 yrs old when she had gallbladder surgery and my nephew who was 21 yrs old also caught it after having gallbladder surgery. My nephew was in ICU for about 3 months and my Mom a month. My Mom went on to live 6 more years and died from cancer at 85. I am telling you this because I want you to know there is hope but yet it may be a long road. Please take care of yourself.

I will pray for all of you to have strength during this very difficult time.

Stength,
Our prayers are with your bil and your family.
Very sorry to hear this news
My thoughts and prayers are with

Just last week, my neighbor was telling me about his bout with sepsis, which he survived. Very best wishes of strength and hope to you and your family. . .
Oh Lori, I am so sorry. That is such a rare complication!!
Lori, prayers and positive thoughts are going out to your family. I do believe in strength in numbers and hope you have nothing but good news.
Lori, prayers are being sent to your bil and your whole family for his recovery.
What a group you are. Thank you so much for the prayers.

Right now, we are still waiting, hoping and praying. Jim is fighting, but so very weak. He is heavily sedated, and has developed pnemonia, which we understand is common, given the fluid that has collected in the lungs. Today they pulled 2 liters of fluid from around the heart.

He coded once during the night. John and I stayed last night so his Mom could go home, and when we heard the code blue for his room.... I just can't tell you the horrible fear we felt. They were able to bring him back chemically, without the paddles, which the doctor said was good.

We are waiting for results from the CODC - to determine the type of bacteria. They do think the combination of antibiotics they are treating him with now is having some results, though minimal.

This is so very hard, for many reasons. First and foremost--- our thougths are with Jimmy and how very much we love him.

Beyond that, I hope and pray this crisis will be a step towards family healing. I hope that doesn't sound awful, but we must always remember how fragile life is.
We are praying for you all here as well. :ghug:
I keep finding your thread to see how things are. I hope he gets better soon, and as I said look after yourselves you need your strength. Hugs to you all xx
Sending prayers and lots of good vibes!! :ghug:
Hoping things are going better and everyone has the strength to endure all of this.
Last night was rough for him, but each new day brings hope that he is going to beat this.
my thoughts are there for you. We just got my dad out of the hospital do to an infection also, it is a stressful time.
I hope things are going well for your family.
Still just praying. He is about the same.
Sending prayers and hugs your way. :ghug:
My prayers are with Jimmy and your family for Jimmy's recovery.
Lori, your family is on my prayer list, and I hope things will take a turn for the better very soon, sending prayers and good thoughts your way :!: :ghug:
I wish there was better news--- but things are still the same, maybe a bit worse. They changed some of his meds today, because of the flucution in his BP. Really high, really low.

I think we have finally realized, this is going to be a very, very long recovery, with many ups and downs.

We will do all the worrying for him, because right now, Jim's ONLY job is getting better.
Oh, Lori, I wish there were better news. Will definitely keep Jimmy in my prayers for the strength to get through this. And as you said, maybe this will help in healing the family.
I'm so sorry things haven't improved yet.
Sending more prayers! :ghug:
The biggest hurdle is for him to want to get better.
My dad had 4 bypass' and survived them only to succomb to staph infection 2 months later he caught while having the angiogram before the surgery....

My heart and prayers goes out to you and to your loved one. All of you keep strong....
