dirty eye

Summer keeps getting a sticky eye. I am gently cleaning it with a pad soaked in cooled boiled water. Last night I left her top knot up and it wasnt so bad this morning. Any ideas please? Not taking her to vets for a couple of weeks as she has a booster due then.

Archie occasionally gets conjunctivitus in his eyes, which means a trip to the vet, where she additional to prescribing drops she does an ulcer check (the drops would need to be different in which case)

It is something I keep an eye on so to speak! as even with normal cleaning it still re occurs, the vet just advises some animals like humans will be more prone to reoccurrances just as some humans do.

He is now very compliant when having his drop!, the first time the vet tried to put the stain in he clawed her face very badly, now he is none plussed about it.
Try warm water and salt, makes a sort of Saline Solution, soak a cotton wool ball in it, wipe over the eye from the outside to the inner corner then get a dry cotton wool ball and wipe the same way. Bathing the eye twice a day.

It might be just an irritation, like she may have irritated the eye in the garden or had a scratch and annoyed the eye. If the discharge from the eye is not just like a clear watery tear but more a gunky yellow stuff then you do need to see a vet.
I think the hair in thier eyes can irratate them too. Nigel's eyes are always worse out of the top knot. He is growing that area out from the short hairt cut. I hate it when my groomer trims there. It takes so long to grow out.
Tonks and Luna both got conjunctivitis after a first "puppy grooming" when they were about 4 months old. A local place was doing a promo; it was complimentary so we took advantage. But after that we never went back; I felt that it wasn't terribly clean if within 24 hours both my girls had eye infections.

The goop in their eyes was green, in comparison to the normal clear or brownish color. We had to get a medicine that was a gel to apply to their eyes.
