Our sweet bouncy boy...

We lost Logan last Wednesday. He was our Beardie Afghan cross that we got from NEOESR. It was apparent that cancer had taken a great toll on his body and his last two weeks were up and down-mostly down, so we agreed it was time to set him free.

Grannie Annie brought Logan into our lives two years ago when his owner passed away. Natalie had gotten Logan from GA nine years previous and we were a perfect place for Logie to spend his final chapters. I think of him proudly marching into Lowes, Home Depot, Petsmart, Petco and Staples whenever I went. By the way, Staples does not allow pets. He was such a good boy-soooo special and I feel blessed to have shared two years of his life with him.

Logan would have been 13 in December. I hope Natalie and him are taking a long walk in the woods. I feel like she would have been grateful to know how much he brought into our lives in the few short years we were his "keeper". He is deeply embedded in our hearts.

I cannot say enough how rewarding it was to take an older dog. I would strongly suggest it. Logan brought me a lifetime of love in the time we had together, and I was proud to know him. Sweet dreams sweetheart.

Always and FOREVER.

What a lovely, sad, heartwarming account of Logan's past. I have said before, you were his angel when you opened your home to him 2 years ago. Now he will be your angel ---

I looked a pictures of Logan...my Millie, who I lost 5 years ago, was a Beardie..Logan has her eyes...those warm, brown,"look into your soul" eyes.....I'm so sorry......
Yes, he had "those" eyes. The day we took him to the vets, he looked long into my eyes and gave me 6 kisses while looking right into my eyes. I think that was a thank you. And thank you for your kind words.

Carol, I'm sorry to hear of Logan's passing and I know you will miss him for a life time, we all miss our babies when they need to go to the bridge. I'm so glad to know that there are people like you who will adopt an older dog and give him/her the best you have, I'm sure he was giving you those kisses to say thank you, I love you, thank you, I love you...

I was looking at his photos, he was really a beautiful boy.

Bless you and god speed to Logan
Carol,
I am so sorry to hear of Logan's passing. :(

Thank you so much for all the kind thoughts. The biggest reason I posted to this was to urge others to adopt an older dog. Logan was VERY special, indeed and there are so many more looking for the best epilog life can offer them. Thank you again.

I am so sorry for your loss! Its so hard to let them go, even when we know its the 'right' thing to do for them!

Being someone that had to part with older dogs, your concern, during your sorrow, for all the other "older" dogs needing homes, especially touched my heart! You, and those like you are a special breed!

I want to thank you for being so unselfish, and so concerned about the other seniors during your grief! That's the best tribute you could've given to your Logan!
