Dr. Jean Dodds seminar

Hello,

Ever notice something is just not right with your dog? You can't put your finger on it, but he's a it crabby, looks worried and his energy level is not as lively as before. You may consider what effect nutrition, thyroid level and over vaccination is contributing to your dog's symptoms.

Dr. Jean Dodds is going to be in our area for a rare speaking engagement at Elgin Community College, Elgin, IL on August 16th. As many of you know, Dr Dodds is an internationally recognized authority on thyroid issues. She will also cover nutrition and vaccination protocols.

Cost of the 9am - 4:30pm seminar is $119.00. You may register on line at www.naturalexpressions.com .

All proceeds from this event benefit the Rabies Challenge Fund.

We hope to see you there!

Jeri

I'm sorry Val, that is not Dr Jean Dodds it is Jean Donaldson.
We had the pleasure of Dr.Dodds lecturing in Melbourne just recently, the lecture was truly enlightening :D

If anyone does get the chance to go to a lecture given by Dr. Dodds then do make the effort, well worth the time and you learn so much more.

Oh right! Duh! Got their names confused.
I've read several of Jean Donaldson's books! Does anyone know if there is a touring schedule? I'd really like to attend a seminar by her.
(sorry this is long)
I can highly recommend Dr. Dodd's (and Jean Donaldson who was my instructor at the dog training academy years ago).
I adopted a profoundly fearful and aggressive bearded collie(Truman) just over 3 years ago. He was a drooling robotic zombie who was flattened by everything; sounds, weird pictures, sudden movement, new enviornments and extremely fearful of people. He was also a very aggressive resource guarder(food, locations) towards both people and other dogs.
We worked very diligently with him, tons of classical conditioning and obedience/agility training. He made enormous progress and at just over the year mark from when we adopted him he started competing in Rally and got his RA and a APDT RL1 as well as his CGC & TDI, in a 3 month period. He did really well in competition, always placed and I was astonished when he passed his TDI easily. My boyfriend was able to walk into rooms that True was in and interact with him. He was able to focus on me around things that were scary for him.
But he was still sort of dull and easily triggered into shutting down. His recovery rate from a fearful event was much better, sometimes seconds where it had been days. He had made amazing progress but I felt like we had plateaued.
I finally(against the advice of my vet who insisted he had no physical symptoms therefore could not have any thyroid problems) sent his bloodwork in to Dr. Dodd's and guess what? his thyroid levels were totally off! Put him on meds, 2 weeks later went in to show with a Rally judge who would have normally terrified him (elderly looming tall man with an awkward gait) and I swear True was waving at the crowd and blowing kisses at the judge, we took 1st and wrapped up his RE legs and then dived straight into our first agility trials where he grabbed his novice titles in 3 weekends of nearly all first place runs.
He was retested while on meds and his levels were perfect and continue to be. He is now a therapy dog who loves people, agility fanatic, amazing herder and our all around perfect (still a bit of a weirdo sometimes) love of our life friend and good dog.
