Suzi Needs Good Home

It's with much anguish and despair I post this...I have worked with Suzi for 2 weeks now and have had to come to the decision that she won't work out. She is such a LOVING OES and very special so this is really hard for me as I love her. She is in need of lots of love which is why her and Rosie can't live together. Rosie has been a sport but it breaks my heart that I can't get near Rosie with Suzi around. Rosie has taken to sitting in corners and under furniture. Suzi from day one has planted herself near me 24/7. I figured once she got used to our home she would relax. Unfortunately the more used to us she becomes she has taken to trying to bite Rosie if Rosie comes within 10 feet of me. Same with visitors, she stands or sits in front of me and I have to put her out on the porch or she is guarding me. I have tried to follow all the dominant suggestions: going thru doorways first, being firm, putting her outside when she won't take no for an answer etc...The more I love on her the more she clings. She will make a wonderful dog for someone who doesn't have a small dog? and I think someone who works and she learns to be alone some. She really responded differently to my husband and will do whatever he says in most cases but again he isn't here during the day. I had to come to this decision because of having a 2 mth. old grandaughter and Rosie. I have "sneaked" sessions with Rosie each day reassuring her that she is loved.
I feel I am at fault as I must not be the best for training Suzi to get along with Rosie and taking my commands. She only takes the "back" command from the many hours of walking and trying to train her in the yard.
Suzi will make a wonderful companion to someone who has the ability to help her overcome her need for constant attention. She is sooo loving and such a beautiful OES...if I didn't have Rosie or a small baby to consider I would keep her. If you, or you know someone that wants a special girl, please go to the Tarheel OES Rescue site as I will need to take her back to her foster home tomorrow with a very heavy heart.

I'm so sorry... I see she's going back to Tarheel.
I'm sure they'll find her a great home that will better match her personality
and quirks... they/we all have them.
Many times the only way to see if it's a match for both family and dog is to
actually try it. I hope you'll consider another rescue at some point.
i totally know where you are coming from .. my derby was the same way but he ending up full attacking anyone that came near me.. i too was not the best alfa . now derby is so happy in his new home with my good friend and he is getting along so great with the female lab who he grew up with in dog classes .. i am sure suzi will find her perfect match.. don't beat yourself up like i did and still do.. you need to do what is right for both dogs.
I'm so sorry for both you and Suzi that it has come to this.

Thank you for trying.

At least you tried - that is all you can ask of yourself. I was so frustrated with Patch at times I thought I'd lose my mind - but soon realized she was frustrated too with all the previous homes she had not knowing if this was the one. Some just do not work out, but Suzi will find the perfect match and you'll not worry about your grandchild and Rosie.
