Big OES Small dog

As some of you know I have had Suzi for one week...overall we are working with her issue of wanting to be with/on me 24/7. Those of you with smaller dogs and OES...help! Everytime Rosie comes to me or I pet her Suzi butts in and has shown her teeth and tried to nip at Rosie. Rosie and Suzi seem to be fine together if I am busy doing something and they have even laid on the same dog bed for 20 minutes. They walk around the yard with Suzi usually following Rosie and seem to be fine laying on the porch together. I know if Rosie was scared she'd hide instead of laying nearby. Am I worrying about nothing when Suzi shows her teeth and tries to nip at her? Will I have to hold, pet and be close to Rosie only when Suzi isn't around? Any experience would be greatly appreciated. Of course Rosie will bark loudly at Suzi when she jumps on me but I am quickly putting her down and making little noise and it's helping. Tonite should be fun, husband out of town, thunder and lightning..Suzi doesn't seem too phased by it but Rosie is always very nervous with it and wants me to hold her. Oh..Suzi the OES is approx. 3 and Rosie is 8 Tibetan Terrier. We had a 10 year old OES, Daisey when we got Rosie at 6 mths. from a breeder who decided not to show her. They got along fine but Daisey didn't have the insecurity of needing to be with you all the time and as an older dog would just grumble at Rosie and she would leave her alone. I am hoping with time Suzi won't be so needy for attention as all she wants is to be loved on...Again, any advice from those of you having bit OES's with smaller pets. Thanks!

Suzi is showing her dominance. Try peting them both, giving them equal attention. If Suzi persists tell her no and give her a time out. If she's trained to do so, put her on a down stay while you pet Rosie, then give Suzi praise and pet her. If she is not so trained, then work on that: start by teaching her the down stay, when Suzi is not around; once she has learned what you want, then use Suzi as a distraction to strengthen her focus on the command. At first keep a good distance between the two, as she proves her reliability, move closer until you can give her a down stay while petting Suzi. Be sure to give Rosie plenty of verbal praise each time she performs correctly.
