New Addition

I justed wanted to say hello. I am new to the forum since we have decided to add an OES to our family. Our new addition will be coming home to his human sisters and our resident cat one month from today. I have wanted a OES for years (20+) and I am beyond excited about Winston becoming a part of our family. Our girls still do not know about him.... we are planning to suprise them. I have to say that since we decided on Winston, both my husband and I have been reading this site daily or as others have said, I have been "lurking" around for weeks, prior to logging on today as a member. I/we have found a lot of useful/helpful information to help us prepare for bringing Winston home and raising our new addition. This forum has been very imformative and I look forward to checking out the site to see what new information has been posted and to see all the pictures :D .

Hi and welcome - can't wait to see pictures of your new addition!

I have an elder Winston....almost 12. He's the love of my life. :)
`
Plus two others, Lacy and Chap. Lacy is a love and Chap is dumb as a bag of hammers but we love him too! :D
Welcome...KIM!!!! And Welcome to Winston..(when he arrives).

..I became a member about 2 months before my "Heart" :hearts: came to us. (We named her heart because she had a white heart on her side...but now, since she she has 'filled out' you can't see the heart anymore...

This site was such a life saver for me...I had many dogs in my life, but never an 8 week old puppy!

We all will be here for you!! And what great adventures you all will have!!!!

Please keep us posted...and please post pictures of your little one.WE LOVE pictures...especially 'baby' pictures!!!!!!!
Woo Hoo!!!!!

Welcome!
Welcome and Congrats! :D
I waited 20 years for my very own Sheepie, so I know how excited you must be! :excited:

I grew up with a Sheepie. She passed away when I was 11 yrs old, she was 12. 20 yrs later I happened across an OES (Pepsi) in my local shelter. He was just 10 months old and his owners had gone to a retirement home. He came home with me less that two weeks later. They had to hold him at the Shelter for 2 weeks (their policy) even though he was an owner turn in. I visited him every couple of days, but got so sad that I couldn't bring him home and I saw how disappointed he looked when I left.

I almost didn't get him 8O ..... On adoption day 6 people showed up for him. Luckily, I was there first ( I actually showed 15 minutes before the shelter even opened and almost two hours before they would even allow him to be release. Can you tell I was excited?) and the shelter employees made sure he went to me. They knew how much I wanted him and how often I had visited him and spent time with him in the yard.

Trust me, they are worth the wait.

I now have two rescued OES, Pepsi and Rags and a rescued Yorkie mix, Lacey, who thinks she's a Sheepie.
Welcome Kim and congratulations on your soon to be fur addition to the family.

Hey puppy shopping helps the time fly by before your new fur baby is home

Now warning sheepies can be an addiction and hard to stop at one. :D

Look forward to photos of the new fur kid. :D

Welcome Kim!! You will love your puppy and this site will help so much. Ron laughed because I lurked so long. But I just needed this sheepie fix.
I've had 3 share their lives with me and you will never be the same.

Congrats! We're also waiting on our next puppy in about a month, too. We've already got one OES but like Lisa said, one just isn't enough. We also have a Komondor but one of him IS enough, lol. (Just kidding-- I just wanted a show puppy and I don't want to show a Komondor. Too much work!)

Who knew all along there was another Clyde? (I'm still telling mine he's the only one though-- it makes him feel important!)
My call name is Clydal. Clyde and Allie together. But Clyde was the size of a small Clydales horse and so the name fit him well.

Mine too!

Edit: I'm so sorry, I didn't realize that your boy had passed away. I didn't mean my comment to be insensitive. I feel terrible.
Welcome to the forum!!
Where are you at in the Commonwealth?
Welcome Kim and Winston.

YAY another PA sheepie :excited:

Thanks so much to all of you for the warm welcome. I have been doing a lot of reading since we decided on Winston. In my research online I came across this site and have become addicted! I really enjoy all the different topics and "been there done that" type of advise.

Winston will be living in Western PA. We live about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. I hope this will be the start of a lifetime of owning a OES. An OES may not have been my husbands first pick of a dog.... but I have worn him down and after 16 years he was tired of hearing about it! But he seem pretty excited too. He and I are counting down the days. We plan to tell the girls in a few weeks. I have not been able to do too much shopping as I have to hid the stuff from the girls. You know how kids are.... they always find the stuff you do not want them to and never find the stuff you need them too

Thanks again for the welcome. I look forward to being a part of the forum for a long time to come.

I will also try to get the pictures out soon. I have to say I love looking at them as well

Kim
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! Can't wait to see the pictures! Hopefully the time will go by quickly as you wait for your furball. Definitely do some shopping. I like Cherrybrook and Pet Edge for on-line shopping. Dogs.com is good too. There's a lot more and once you get one catalogue you'll get them all. Three cheers for another Pennsylvania pup! If you're ever in Philly come over for a puppy play date!
Help! We're being overrun by Pennsylvania!
Hi and welcome to the forum from Germany.

Welcome from northeastern PA. :D
welcome from colorado
Welcome from Florida!
I had a Winston, great name! :D
What a cute pup!
Lookig forward to puppy antics...
So cute.......
My husband was able to download the one picture we have for now. Promise more pictures in the near future. :D

The girls will be finding out about Winston next week and then he will come home in three weeks (after a previously scheduled vacation and two weeks of bandcamp are completed). We did not want to tell them too soon - they would have drove us nuts by now with wanting Winston to come home. We wanted to bring Winston home when we were all here and able to be around. So in the long run, for Winston's sake, it will be better that we waited the extra two weeks to bring him home so that we are all here and not running in and out non-stop for two weeks with jobs and bandcamp. Wanted to be able to bring him home to some semblance of a routine. Seems like forever since we started this process. But the time has been good as I have been able to do a lot of reading and attempting to prepare for his arrival. 8O
Welcome from Minnesota!
I AM A PA. GAL TOO.. BUT NOW IN FLA WELCOME
Welcome from Southern California. I joined this forum right after I lost my Winston to the contaminated pet food from China. It really helped me get through the loss and waiting for my new boy Nigel. He is a year old now, and through this forum I also have Bella, almost 4 yr old OES. It is a great place to be for any sheepie owner. Can't wait to see the pictures!!!
Hi Kim! Sorry for the late welcome we've been a little busy here. I'm Hungarian, my boys are from South Carolina - Lumpi my lab mix and Maine - Boni my Sheepie (hubby is a Texan).

Your puppy is adorable!!! Can't wait to see more pictures!!! :D

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Winston in such a tragic way. I am amazed though - everyone keeps telling me one is not enough. I really am beginning to see they can be addicting! :excited:
One is fun...two or more is complete silliness. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's too hard to be without a sheepie, so more than one is a must for me.
