How come no one told me about craigslist earlier?

Holy heck!! I went on there for the first time today. Listed most of our furniture, and within the first 2 hours ...it was all gone. I'm shocked!!! Someone even took my crappy filling coming out couch (or they will in a few hours). If I knew it would be this easy, I should have listed things WAY higher. Almost all the furniture items were broken in some way too.

This craigslist thing is awesome! To think all these years I just threw my crap away.

Coincidentally, I got a great craigslist deal today, too! $45 for an extra-large Varikennel that was barely used and I didn't even have to drive 20 minutes to get it. It's the Great Dane sized one which is hundreds of dollars with shipping. I'm super happy to get it!

You did this just to make me feel bad, didn't you. Pffft. You know I just wrote about needing/buying one over the weekend.
AHEM! I believe I did specifically tell you about craigslist!:

http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=20231

Not to mention the dozens and dozens of posts in the DOGS IN TROUBLE about OES posted on craiglslist! I've rescued three in the last year from craigslist alone - rehomed two and kept one!

I keep an eye on craigslist everyday. Just bought a refrigerator on Monday since the compressor on mine blew and I didn't want to spend the money on a brand new one. I love the one I bought too.
LOL - where were you when Marianne (the absolute Queen of Craigslist!) has posted all the great finds and connections she makes??? 8)

That is good all your stuff found homes. :D
Well I KNEWWW about it, but I didn't really know how great it was! I thought it was too complicated to bother listing or searching, so I never clicked on the site before. It's 10x easier than ebay to list.
I absolutely love Craigs List!
I am the Queen of looking for free stuff!
Some of our dogs beds are some twin size mattresses!!! FREE :D
I also check the pet section to see if I can help!
I posted a Great Pyrenees as a courteousy on
Petfinder and his new family flew from Florida
to North Carolina to drive home....
There are some shady folks on there too but, you can get some
good stuff if you are careful!
Poor Marty I made him look like the queen of Craigs List
I didn't realize he had logged in.....
it was me Kathy that posted under Marty!!!

After my last craigslist experience, my hubby, who hates the internet, said: "I will never doubt the powers of the internet again!"

I listed our Jacuzzi. Our Jacuzzi has sat on our patio for about a year... and the cover became a place of storage for my hubby.

We stopped using it because it had a hole somewhere in the plumbing.
(Hubby, the plumber, refused to open it up and look for it....because he's scared to death of spiders. ) Once we shut it off we realized that we were paying between $50 and $75 a month to run it. We were hardly using it at that point anyway. So it sat there taking up 49 sq ft of the patio and sucking up $$$. :(

Hubby said nobody would want it.... let along drag it out of our yard.
HE WAS WRONG!!

I listed the Jacuzzi for free with the words "YOU HAUL IT!" I said it has a leak somewhere in the plumbing and that that can be fixed, but runs great. It was a 1996 Jacuzzi, but the pump, heater and circuit board were all only about 5 years old.

The first day I got 5 responses. The first guy I talked to said he couldn't get to my house for two days and asked if I could keep it here. I said, no problem.... told the other people if he didn't show that I would call them
But the guy showed.... he brought a friend and a trailor and off it went.
:cheer:

I do miss having a Jacuzzi... but I am enjoying the patio space and lower utility bills!! 8) I wish I had done it sooner though. I thought I would have to pay someone to come and get it. Then I said, Let me try craigslist first! Glad I did!! :D

Lol. No, but it just makes the deal sweeter.

No, in all seriousness, I've been looking for a couple of months myself. I wanted it for car travel because the sound of a creaking wire crate on 500 (or 2) mile trip is, to me, one of the worst sounds on earth. I had time to search since it's for the puppy, not the big guys now.
Elissa, thanks for the thought! I can't get anyone to come fix mine as they say the "parts may not be available." OK, I live out of town a bit and it's hard to get people to come down. But if I put Free in a Craigslist....I bet I'll get someone.

So where are you storing your husband now that it's gone? :)

We got quite a few good responses when trying to rent our house on craigslist. It's weird though, the same way you get Nigerian scams on Ebay we kept getting scams from the UK on craigslist. Even when we were just trying to sell a mattress. Oh well.
My best friend is selling her car on craigslist got contacted by some kind of scam artist who was willing to pay full asking price, without ever seeing the car. She sent a fake check then asked her to pay for the shippping with the extra $2000. She was told to wire the money to a person in Germany.

As soon as the check arrived I called the bank it was drawn from (The check was written by a company in Ohio, but this woman claimed to have been here in California. The envelope had a return address of Maryland, with a person with a different name. They told us the check was fake and the account didn't exist.

We were up for some entertainment so we let the woman think that we had deposited the check. I asked over and over for the info for the shipping company so I could contact them. She said, they would contact us when the money arrived. HA!!

Then we told her we decided to keep the car....where can we return the check to?
For some odd reason she never got back to us.

We also reported what happened with the FBI's internet crime division and the local police.

So do be careful!

There is also another cool site, not 100% sure of the addy, but its something like www.freecycle.com

People just list stuff they want to get rid of. Pretty cool!

People list the weirdest stuff on there. I've seen things like "Half a bottle of Bayer-- don't need it anymore." How creepy is getting half a bottle of medication from a stranger? There's always a weird one or two. I haven't ever gotten anything from it but I enjoy reading the listings. :)
I like the weird listings... but how about when the police arrest someone for jokingly putting up a baby for sale?
How is that a crime?

http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada ... ?id=544227

At least "the Crown" had some common sense.
Makes me want to list something odd for sale myself.

EDIT: Wait... if I punctuate that just a little differently...
"Makes me want to list something odd. For sale: Myself."
or
"Makes me want to list something odd for sale. Myself."

Tickled me
www.freecycle.org

I like Craig's list, but sometimes it's like a full time job monitoring the # of emails you receive.
oh but remember that there are real scary people there too!

I posted looking for help with the dogs last year and that is when i wound up with the AR scary person i ended up having to evict from my house!!

ARGHHHHHHH scared me away from Craigs list!
The only REAL thing I was worried about was after I made the posts, the thought of strange guys coming to the house while I have no male here. I would feel better if I waited until Mr. J was back from the field. I could just see Yuki eating her butt while I get slashed in the throat and my two beautiful babies are upstairs. Thankfully, everyone who has called has been girls or guys who brought their gfs. The scary callers were never serious buyers. Either way, I dragged everything to the garage which I kept open and held Yuki on a leash w/o letting anyone pet her.
