Hi -

Hi
I'm new here. I've been reading messages and find you all wonderful and compassionate.

We've got only one OES now, a pretty 7 year old lady named China Doll. China was a rescue that Pat at the SW OES Rescue had taken in. That is also the name of one of my mares, although in Spanish, so it was destiny.

China is our 5th OES. I gave the first one, Andy, to my husband as a wedding gift 22 years ago and so began the love affair with this breed of hairy dogs. We have loved them all and miss them to this day.

I'll get some pictures as soon as I can figure out how to upload them.

Welcome from northeastern PA! China Doll is just a beautiful girl!

We are sheepie-less right now  but hopefully we can remedy that within the next few months.
Desert Hills is north of Phoenix, in the foothills as you are heading north out of the city. We have a small horse property and keep our retired Peruvian Paso show horses along with a couple boarders.

China gets full run of the fenced property and has learned that she does not have to herd the horses. If I raise my voice to correct or call a horse, she is at full attention at rail side watching. When I first brought her home last summer, I quickly learned that she had never seen a horse before and she thought they were big playmates. She's smart and quickly learned that she does not stand under the horses for shade or climb over the corral rails to sit under the misters in their stalls. Thank God the horses are very calm and quiet and not bothered by hairy sheepies who think they need to herd.

Last summer we lost our old 2 sheepies, Rocky and Daisy. Rocky was the best herder of horses. I kinda rescued them, too, from moving to Dallas to live in an apartment. Can you imagine? I took them both and then found out that they both had very, very bad hips. I really did not care because my husband and I loved them very much and we had them for over 10 years. Daisy had no hip socket for her left hip but she managed to move around okay, and even run on occasion. Rocky's dysplasia just got worse as time went by but what took him finally was a brain tumor and a broken heart. We had put Daisy down a week before Rocky got so sick because Daisy just could not get up anymore. Our hearts were broken. They are the dogs in the pictures on the left side - Daisy with the Santa hat (behind Daisy in that picture is Patches who was OES and Samoyed mix) and then Rocky with me. The other 2 pictures are China.
