Pearl...at the groomers?????

I was so happy with the way Meagan at Petsmart groomed Heart

I decided to let her groom Pearl with a shorter summer cut.

Pearl's last visit to a groomer was when she was about 3-4 years old --she is now 11. (I wash and brush her every 2 weeks, but I cannot blunt cut--the only other alternative is to shave her down and I really don't want to do that....)

She is very healthy, not on any meds, still is a working Therapy Dog and is pretty active----BUT I am concerned about the stress it will put on her.. I have discussed this with Meagan and she suggested the first appointment tomorrow...at 7AM!!!!

Am I just being silly???? Do many of the 'elders' still get groomed by 'outside' groomers???

Your thoughts on this would be helpful....

My parents brought our Sheepie, Daisy to a groomer every 3 months until she passed away at age 12.
I hope Pearl enjoys her day at the Salon.
Best wishes for a lovely relaxing day at the spa Pearl :D
Lucy went regularly until she didn't have the strength to stand in the tub anymore. She always did well, even when she started getting really old.

The thing is...IF Pearl had been going for the past 11 years, even once a year that would be one thing...But this will be the 1st time in 9 years....she is not used to the way a groomer will be handling her and I am sure Meagan will be very gentle, it's just that to Pearl, she will be a stranger and therefore, it will be stressful...But I guess I am worrying for nothing...I am sure she will do fine.

Thanks for all your comforting words...

I guess, when I think about it, regularly was really only once or twice a year so there was a pretty good gap in between times. Don't worry, Val. I'm sure she'll be fine and enjoy a day at the spa!
THANKS!!! to everyone....I know I am obsessing about this..I needed all you guys to reassure me she would be fine.

After all...like I said..she is healthy and happy and friendly. What an adventure for her..(and me).

I find it hard to believe that you would obsess about anything!

Just kidding - I couldn't resist! There are times you make me look totally indifferent to things. God forbid if we were both laid back at any given moment!
