My husband had something odd happen to him yesterday.
He had to go to San Diego for a job (which is a LONG drive).
The homeowners had a German Shepherd puppy and of course Billy went nuts over the dog. He and the owner were talking about German Shepherds and Billy had mentioned Harley.
The owners told Billy that had also lost a GSD to cancer about a year and a half ago. Upon talking more they found out that this dog was Harley's brother. Shocked

I was wondering if this would be just bad breeding or mere coincidence?

Harley's brother was just slighty older than he was when he passed away.
Harley was 5 1/2 yrs old and his brother was almost 6. Sad
It would be something to mention to the breeder
Just incase, it is Sad
My sil and bil had a litter of Bullmastiffs that the Mom died of cancer and each pup in the second litter died of cancer before they where two years old. The sad thing, besides the obvious, was that my sil had two of Luca's puppies from two different litters and they both died of cancer. Georgie, from the first litter, did live to be four years old, but Shelby from the second litter died before her second birthday. All three dogs had such wonderful loving personalities. It has been a number of years and we still miss them a bunch.

I am sorry to hear about Harley's brother.

I don't know the breeder personally. We rescued Harley at a year and a half old from my BIL's ex-girlfriend, who was planning on putting him down because she did like him and had been starving him. Evil or Very Mad
We did know his birthday and where he breeder was... so that is how Billy knew this was Harley's littermate.
