Ole Blue, 1989 - 2008
THE LAST BATTLE If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done, For this -- the last battle -- can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where to my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me till the end And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Joan and I are crying and rubbing Mulligan for you and Ol' Blue. That was a touching poem, made all the more so by our grief for you as I read it aloud to our family. God Speed Ol' Blue. Be restored to health in green pastures and, if you have a moment, look in on your mom if you can. |
| Marianne so sorry to hear of "Blue" crossing the rainbow bridge, a truly remarkable boy and what an incredible innings and all those years and years you had with him. Makes it ever so much harder and will be hard not having him around but may your darling special oldie be happy, young and romping with youth again in doggie heaven.
When the tears stop flowing and I am sure they will for awhile, Blue has left you such a special gift of wonderous long memories of all those years you were blessed to have him by your side. Love to you Marianne, we are thinking of you all.  |

| I'm so sorry for your loss. I just lost the love of my life Tuesday so I really feel your pain. I just bought a book called Animals in the Afterlife by Kim Sheridan last night. I haven't read it yet but it got great reviews on Amazon. I was looking for something to help with my own grieving. I know Ole Blue was very special to you and he loved you very much.
