Should The Forum send out periodic newletters? How often?

The question is: "Should forum.oes.org send out a periodic newsletter?" to all registered members, and if so, how often?

This newsletter might contain links to posts of interest, statistics about the forum, maybe other articles interest.

I vote for a newsletter at least once a month. I wouldn't mind one a week.

I think once a month would be ok, maybe once every 2 weeks.
You need to keep reminding people of your existence because we all have busy off-line lives just caring for our sheepies.
New people or people with problems will not come back if they don't get immediate results.
Not sure why, but everyone seems to think there's somebody reading everything everybody writes. Maybe we all just wish everybody would read or listen to us....
But a newsletter could even highlight the most recent posts ... or ones of the most interest.
I know if you had a vote going on about who's dog looked the best or who had the best web page, you would get a bunch of response. We are all competing all the time it seems. Pity.
But a newsletter would keep bolstering interest and that would give life to the pages. It wouldn't have to be fancy or anything.
If you have the time, I say send us an e-mail.
I get so much stuff in my inbox that my filters and rules are screwing up. I like the forum better than the OES list due to the fact that your forum doesn't contribute to my inbox problem.

IMHO:

I can't see what content you could provide in the mailings that would be useful.

"The Notify me when a reply is posted" button should suffice for new people seeking advice to come back and read the reply.

I voted every 3 months, but only because I know that it can take a lot of time to accumulate and put together all the info, otherwise, I would would say "Heck, send me one every day!"

I really enjoyed this last one we received. I always now try to check in at all the spots as often as I can to update myself on all the new items. Your newsletter zeroed in on some of the key areas.

Since, I'm still new to the site I am still venturing into new areas and I am learning more for when I am able to get another sheepie and it definitely will be another sheepie.

Thank you and all the others that must help you to maintain this site. It is a wonderful sheepie encyclopedia in the making. If there is ever anything I can do to help you (computer challenged as I am) do not hesitate to ask.

:?: Ron, can you please post what you have in mind when you say "newsletter"? It might mean different things to different people.

I'm thinking that a newsletter would have short blubs on recent popular topics, maybe some photos from the photo section, etc etc - with links to read the threads...

There are three examples of what I had sent out as bi-annual newletters in the Members Only section.

The last one was sent about a year ago.

Have a look!
Ron, I voted for every 6 months, because God knows how much you do for this forum already!! Don't want to tax you any more because we so appreciate everything already!
