OES 's used for herding trials

We have decided after much thought to bring one of these fluffy guys into our home. I grew up with one named Charlie, he was the worlds best dog in my humble opinion. We have shetland sheep and I would love to know if there are any sheepies left with the instinct. :?:

Welcome! Glad you're with us.

Oh yes! We have several members whose dogs herd!

Others just seem to be a bit hard of herding.

You better believe it! All my dogs have it. And they all go for herding instinct test at one time or another. If I could afford it, we'd be taking lessons! There is nothing more awesome than putting your dog in a pen with the sheep, knowing they have never had 1 iota of training in this area & then watching the instinct kick in! I was almost in tears watching Isaac at the age of 9 years moving the sheep around the arena, getting them to the specified area & then walking back a bit to stand between me & the sheep & keeping an eye on each area!
Mine have it too! It's quite amazing to see them in action! It would be nice to see a sheepdog in a home where it's natural instinct could be utilized.
Mine too.
Our 1st OES Ollie was great with our sheep. He quickly figured out that herding trials were "fake work" and he didn't care to go through all the manuevers for trials - smart boy! He figured he had the real thing at home and that was enough. 8)

Chewie is our newest and he has great instinct. We just need to get to work with his training.

Poor Chewie!

If you all want to help the poor guy out, send good vibes that he finishes soon and can get some of this coat buzzed off!

Then he can get back to being the all-around athlete he loves to be!! :D
