Pantihose revisited

Awhile back, we had a discussion about pantihose. I was so surprised that so many of you refused to wear them. Then the more I read, I realized, HECK! I'M OLD!

Seems pantihose are throwback to my generation. So, I'm rethinking them!

Here's an article from the Chicago Tribune, discussing office use of pantihose and the growning opinion to get rid of them!

I still wear them except on really hot (like 90 degress with 90% humidity). It was part of my employer's dress code until last year, but I still can't imagine not wearing stockings. Plus they keep your legs warm. What would you do in the winter???? I don't wear pants too often.

Anyway, I guess I'm a fuddy-duddy but I don't care. There's hardly any decorum left in the workplace.
Yep...I'm a fuddy duddy too. I've wrecked my feet too many times (from blisters) not wearing hose.
I still keep a pair or two on standby in the lingere drawer, just in case, but I rarely ever put them on. I just hate wearing the darned things. Seems like a torture treatment to me.
I'll wear tights in the winter but I haven't worn pantyhose since I was about eight and I wanted to feel grown-up! I don't mind them but it's the "skin" colored hose that I hate! I can understand if it's part of an office dress code but I think nude pantyhose look so dated, not to mention orange! I'd go with something more sheer and/or natural.
Oh, I hate them. In fact I am allergic too them as well.
I never ever wear them unless I absolutely have to. And then I always try and wear a pair of tights if I can.

My mom wore support hose (for vericose veins) all the time, even under slacks!!! 8O
Well Deb, I have been in the closet until now... I love pantyhose. They hold me in...I wear them under jeans in the winter.
If I am wearing a summer dress I have pantyhose on cut off just above the knee. My secret is out!!
I alter every pair of pantyhose by making three evenly spaced cuts in the waist band so they do not cut into my midsection. It works fine.

I don't wear them around the house, and they are the first thing to go when I get home. But I think they do a body good.
Wendy!!!! I'm so proud of you "outting" yourself!!! I think pantihose have a place in our world too!

You're my hero!

That's not outing. I think that requires some kind of 12 step program. Your modifications scare me!
Pantyhose ... skirt/dress yes, but then 98% of time I'm in jeans
Reminds me of what Dolly Parton's character said in Steel Magnolias about "I haven't left the house without lycra on my thighes since I was twelve years old".
I would need 12 steps to get over my panyhose dependancy. But as long as I can get a pair on any corner (drug store) I'm good.

But if I couldn't score my pantyhose I would be at every ladies house on the block.....Hey lady got any hose? Come on, I'll take the ones with runs. Help a sister out.
I hate pantyhose and hate tights even more.
If I am going to a party I will where a dress with an open toe shoe... no need for hose. This works well in California. I think the last time I wore hose was in NY.

The biggest thing I hated was the constant sagging of the crouch and the constant need to have to yank them back up. Which usually results in a tear.... and they end up coming off.
Oh yeah and the itchy factor.

My hatred may also stem from years of dance classes where tights were required.

If it came down to wearing pantyhose or pants... I would pick pants.
Though I do enjoy dressing up.
im with jill...ill wear tights in the winter but only on occasion...i like wool hunting socks even better...and no one can see whats inside youre hiheeled boots......

pantyhose would just be torture here.....but they are great to use to hold up tomato plants, trees and other bushes......

YIKES ever itchier! 8O
Definitely an age thing...I used to not feel dressed without them in a dress/skirt. Today it's my poor old feet...I have been wearing Dansko sandals from spring to fall...helps the feet greatly. During the winter I definitely use tights to stay warm. Know the feeling of wearing them to feel more held in...I have my Spanx for summer and rarely dress without them...if I was thin and didn't worry about all my fat bumps (this is a dream) I would wear anything and spandex would be history. That would mean eating nothing at my age and not an option. So much harder to loose 10 lbs. after 45!
I can't stand them. I only wear them with a dress or skirt because my legs are so white :D but I would still rather wear trousers/slacks/pants/jeans whatever you call them haha.
