Former OES Mom

I have been reading this forum for over a year. I had 2 OES years ago (Sundance & Suzy) that were truly the love of my life especially my boy, Sundance. He was one in a million. I never got another one because I thought it would be unfair - no one could measure up to him. I have an Akita now who is 11+ years. I lost his older sister a few months ago. Although I love them dearly and they are sweethearts, my true love will always be sheepdogs so I live vicariously through the antics of the sheepdogs on the forum.

Maybe at some time in the future I will get another one but I don't think it would be fair to my boy Kirby since he is in his twilight years.

I hope you don't mind me participating in this forum although I don't have a sheepdog now.

Welcome!

I understand how you feel about not thinking another can live up to the former.........but they are all so different. Each has his or her own traits that make them unique. Yes, wait until the Akita passes and then consider taking on a rescue if you are not into "puppyhood" again. Rescues need understanding homes who can officer intelligence, love and commitment........something most, not all, but most seriously lacked in their first home.

In the mean time, feel free to lurk as much as you want and say boo every so often.

Welcome from British Columbia. I don't have a sheepie now and probably won't for awhile but it's a great forum for dog owners of all kinds .

Welcome from NC!
I love your picture of the sheepies
and the Christmas tree>>>cute
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Donner's Mom: The Christmas picture is one of my favorite pictures. I used it as a Christmas card one year.

lisaoes: I have added some pictures of my Akitas. Keko, my female died a few months ago. She is the one on the left in all of the pics. She was a great girl and very beautiful. I really do miss her. I have a parrot that still calls her. Very sad. Kirby is my boy and he's a sweetheart.
Welcome Michelle fro northeastern PA
Hi and welcome from Ontairo :D
Welcome, Michele, from PA. I too am sheepie-less right now, having lost my precious Drez in May. I understand not wanting to get another one because they couldn't possible measure up to their predecessor, but each one has their own unique personality - that's what I keep telling myself! We're waiting for after vacation to start looking in earnest, because the house is just too darned quiet without hearing the thumping of sheepie feet.
welocme from fla .. you are a sheepie lover that is all that is needed in this forum
Welcome to the forum from Massachusetts!
Looking forward to your posts! :D
Welcome from Alaska!
Welcome from southeastern PA- as long as we're being directional here. I waited a LONG TIME (over 20 years) before getting my second sheepie. I switched breeds because I didn't think I could have another one like Noah.
I got my new boy-Bogart- last September. He's great! He has some similar characteristics to the first but is quite unique in his own right. I'm sorry I waited so long.
