foot traction

Jack is forever slding and falling on the tiles......running/fast corners. I've tried throw rugs with latex backs which help alot but then I trip over them. Is there something I can put on his feet, he won't lick off, that will keep him from sliding? Does the paw tack leave residue on the tiles and carpet?

How short do you trim his fur around his paw pads? I find with dogs who grow coat quickly shaving right to the skin between paw pads is the only way to have more than a week where the pad is actually making full contact with the floor.

The ones I'm showing I trim flush with the pad every 2 weeks, the ones who are not shown are shaved there every time I remember to do it LOL
I've never used it so I can't say how well or how long it works but Bio-Groom makes a product-
