Best exercise ever!

How long did it take for Laika to run along the side? I'd like to try it but am afraid if Abi saw something interesting she might take off and drag me and the bike with her.
If you notice I have an attachment so no worries!
Thanks.

Okay - you've experienced Marley :0 she loves the bike runs. when she sees something that upsets her I pedal a little faster and she has to run a bit - it cuts down on her reactive time. as for seeing something and taking off - hasn't happened. Okay there was one cat, but really it wasn't bad :)

I try to keep to a pace that makes her trot just a little bit behind even with me. if she is out front a bit I assume I need to go faster. this keeps her concentrating on her exercise and not on other things. In rare cases I have stood up and held the bike steady.

now if she weighs more than you do all bets are off.

seriously it was much easier than I anticipated. you can also click and treat for good behavior on the bike just like you do when you train other behaviors.
Yep I do all those things if she lags I slow down and if she speeds up so do I. As well if I notice she isn't paying attention. I don't use her name but just say something usually heel or watch it a few times and she gets back on track. I haven't had any bad experiences either; especially with the attachment. You can see it in their faces too; they love it to be able to just trot/run.

Oh she knows the word bike and will run and stand next to it!!

Infact or new issue is she thinks all bikes are meant for her to run with :?

I have been lax - I do need to get her out more often. SHe really loves it. now Morgan 8O last time I hooked him up (I use a halter and a walky dog) we took four steps out of the garage and he did a catoon dog feet plant. ALl four of 'em firmly planted in one spot and refused to move.

It all depends on the dog.
At the risk of being teased, I will admit that the weight issue was my concern. I only weigh about 30 lbs more than she does. Plus, you know how strong sheepies are. The changing pace makes perfect sense. I will try it. We both need the exercise. At 10pm last night it was still 90 degrees though. I may have to wait for Fall. :(

Early mornings are good too - tires them out for the day
I used to do this with Winston when he was younger and he LOVED it. Now at seven years old and two TPLOs later, he travels at a slightly slower pace (prefers to ride on the ATV. )
I love Winston more and more. He is what I need to be.
Oh WOW that looks great! I really want one of those for Ru but I worry he is a little unpredictable and would probably run into the bike wheels
How does the attatchment thing work? Where did you get it? I guess it would cost alot to get one shipped from the states, I've never seen one here. What do they call them?

Laika is so beautiful. She looks really graceful

If you just type in bike attachment into google you will find what you need :) I love mine!
I use the walky dog and it actually comes from Italy if I remember correctly.
