Edisto Island

We arrived on Edisto very late on Saterday night, the drive gets longer every year. We made 930 miles in 14 hours, not too bad a time. Both the puppies were GREAT. Tasker and Ty both love to travel.

Tasker slept in the back seat and Ty curls up in my lap. They always draw lots of comments when we stop at Rest Stops!!

Has anyone else noticed that when you stop at Rest Stops is't always the worst section that is designated the "pet" area??? Never the nice green grass with trees and shade but always some brown dried up patch of grass with no trees and no benches.

It seems that more and more people are traveling with their pets, perhaps we should band together and demand equal rights!!!

Anywho.. I haven't even made it to the beach yet!!!! Yesterday was busy busy BUSY settling in and going to the Grocery store. At 86 (87 this Friday) my Dad doesn't "prepare for guests" well and we have a house full. My son and his wife, my cousin and his wife, Doug and I and 5 dogs!!!! It's CRAZY here. but fun crazy. We had to go to Charleston yesterday to get groceries and such.

My son and his wife left last night for a quick trip to Hilton Head, they will be back the end of the week. They left Rocco their cocker spainal with GRANDMA!!!!!!!!!!! You should have seen me this morning walking 3 dogs!!!!! Last night Rocco and Ty both slept on the bed, they were ok as long as they stayed on opposite sides but we did have and occasional growl or two as they got too close. Hopefully it will settle down in the next day or two.

I made a trip to the bookstore and bought a sack of trashy novels. I am really looking forward to some DO NOTHING TIME!

My Dad still has this terribly slow dial up, much slower in the later part of the day than in the early morning. So as ususal my internet time will be limited!!

Yes, and you almost always have to walk way, waaaay to the back of the property, right by the big rigs. Belle usually pees en route. Oh, well. On the flip side, the general public is horrible about picking up after their dogs, so you can sort of understand why they don't want us front and center where people might trod in the left over messes

When we drove down to St Louis last month we did find a very nice rest stop in IL where the dog walking area was clean, close, grassy and big. Kudos to the dog owners in that general area. Otherwise, I hate stopping at these places because who knows who's been there and I don't want my dogs exposed to lord knows what. If I have a dog under a year old with me, we always pull off the interstate for a food break find the nearest fast food restaurant and potty on the far reaches of that property.

Have fun down south!!!

How great!!! Have fun and RELAX...you certainly deserve to do nothing except read the trashy books, lay on the beach and be with your family. Hope you have great weather and great times!!!!

Man am I envious. I love trashy novels and "do nothing" time.

Enjoy- Enjoy- Enjoy!!!! You certainly deserve it!
Glad you made it there okay. Enjoy your time there and wish Dad a Happy Birthday from us. :D
dont forget to take pictures!! :D
Lay on the beach and lay off the Internet!

Have fun. Hug your dad, sounds like he needs (or is going to need) one!
Enjoy your time off - you deserve it!!!
Ginny, Have a great time, take lots of pictures :!: Rick and I went to Hilton Head 2 yrs. ago, we love it there. My daughter and son in law wanted to back this year, but I can't afford vacation, and a new pup . So we opted for a new pup :D I guess we are both nuts
Have a great time :D
hey Ginny, don't forget all that knitting you planned on doing???? I think I would love the time to read a book.... the trashier the better too.
Not to worry, I picked up the knitting this morning!

We spent the afternoon at the beach. Left Tasker with my Dad (the old me seem to get along well together) took the "younguns", they had fun. I used sundscreen and kept everything from getting burned but the tops of my feet, forgot them  .
