Murphy's Law Chapter II AKA Good News/Bad News

GOOD NEWS........ after two rounds of prednisone and a couple weeks of PT my back is much better, I can sit in a chair without wanting to die. I can actually bend and move like a real person WOO HOO!!! Just in the nick of time, my exam is Thursday.

BAD NEWS.......... after two rounds of prednisone I came down with a NASTY cold last week (prednisone lowers your immune system). In true "Ginny Fashion" I kept pushing and pushing myself. Finally yesterday, after a week of no sleep from coughing so much, I saw the Dr. I have bilateral pneumonia AND bronchitis 8O 8O

GOOD NEWS.......... i got sent home to bed for the remainder of the week with a fist full of prescriptions. One of which was some sort of "narcotic laced" cough syrup. Took it at 10:00 last night and slept right straight through till 7:00 this morning :excited: After a week of pacing all night cough that was HEAVEN.

BAD NEWS............. I had to call into work, sick. My first sick day in 19 years. Over the years I have had a few "planned" surgeries and left work a little early because of not feeling well but never had to call in sick. This means I won't get my name on the "25 Year" plaque in the basement hallway of the hospital. The clock starts all over with each sick day. I'm not postponing retirement just to get my name on the plaque

GOOD NEWS............I can sit in bed and do nothing but study for the next three days 8)

Things do have a way of working out.

I hope you feel better soon and good luck on the test!
Giiny, which is more important, your health or your name on a plaque in a BASEMENT???? I think you know the answer.

Stay in bed. Rest. Study. And kick butt on the test. But most of all, GET WELL SOON!!!!! :ghug:
Wow, Ginny! You sure have been "blessed" recently, haven't you?

Relax and enjoy these next few days of rest and study. And don't worry about work - it will always be there when you get back!

:ghug:
Hope you feel better soon
I cannot believe that you haven't taken a sick day in 19 years! If I make it a month I'm lucky (thanks to migraines :(). I'd tell you to get better but I think you should stay mildly sick for awhile and relax on your time off.

19 years. Wow.
Goodness gracious girl!! You need to rest!! I was in your shoes last year with my ruptured disc and pneumonia & bronchitis. That hydrocodone guafinissin (sp?) cough syrup ROCKS doesn't it?? At least I didn't have to think about studying though. NO WAY I could've done that, too. You're one tough cookie.

I think 19 years w/o a sick day deserves a plaque. We'll make you one. :D
Wow, 19 years.... I used to call in occasionally just because I was busy reading the forum

Hope you're feeling better soon! :)
Well, I'd say the final tally is:

3 Good News
2 Bad News

Congrats, Ginny! You won!!!

(Relax, enjoy yourself and get better soon!)
Wow, 19 years without a sick day is amazing!
Glad you slept and that the meds are helping.
Feel Better!!!
alright miss HI-achiever....get over it....19 yrs is worthy of a plaque any day....

stay in bed, study, and sleep....get better quickly so i can tell everyone that i hobnob with some wickedly smart people!!
I have always had he kind of job where calling in wasn't an option, there was never anyone to cover. So it isn't that I haven't been sick I just have to come to work, do what I can and then go home. Once years ago I had a bad car accident the day I was supposed to go on vacatin, I was out for weeks but because I had already scheduled two weeks vacation I just extended my vacation time and didn't have to take "sik time"

Yup, cough syrup with Codeine ROCKS. Unfortunately the Pharmacy only had enough for 4 doses yesterday, so I'm waiting for Doug to come home with more today. But it's ok because I'mpropped up in bed with my lap top and Tasker and Ty snuggled in. What a great way to spend a day, I may just do this more often
