Agility books

Hello, I am looking for any agility books with sequences. We run races and we need to learn a new sequence. Pls help me and send me your answer about book. I have more agility books for beginners but there aren´t sequences (parkour) :(. I would like to train a new sequences.

My Taimee is a first bobtail who is run agility races in Czech Republic :D . Taimee is very quickly girl and people of borders don´t like me and Taimee :D. Taimee is winning.

Do you have agility races only for Bobtails? We don´t have it in Czech Republic :( (only for borders, bearded collies ... but no Bobtails)

Thanks for your answer.

Bye

Hi, Kvitco.

It's very exciting to hear about an OES doing agility in Czech Republic! Outside of North America, I've only spoken to Australian and Finnish competitors, though I'm sure there are others.

I can only recommend resources in English, and mostly American ones at that. So I don't know how helpful that is, but you can check the book section at www.cleanrun.com then go to their Store section and then videos and books.

The magazine itself offers a number of different course suggestions for various reasons, though I don't know how useful or practical it would be for you to subscribe. They also used to offer some wonderful books full of exercises from the Clean Run and Power Paws agility camps. I have one of them and it's excellent. I'm not sure if they still offer them or not. You will also find course and sequence suggestions in other books that cover specific topic - I have the Houston and Peardot "Go the Distance" workbook which features, as its title suggests, exercises specifically designed for working on teaching the dog to work at a distance. I'm sure there are many others. At the very least it's probably the best collection of English language training materials.

How long have you and Taimee been competing and how old is she?

In the US, we do have Bobtail only agility competitions, but only one trial, once a year, as part of the National Specialty. It's a lot of fun, but there are too few OES doing agility to justify anything more at this point.

Hi Kristine,
thanks for your answer and helping. The English books are OK for me. I need the very good exercise book. I would like to learn other sequences without our training course.

Can you write me your opinion at the books: Clean Run Exercise Book Vol. 1 and 2? Are you OK?

Taimee is 18 month old. We have started to learn agility 5 month ago. Taimee is very clever girl, she knows all equipments. Our first agility race was 2 month ago. We were 6 times at the agility races and Taimee was 3 and she was 2. "place" at the last race (the first was border collie, second - bobtail Taimee, third - border collie and others...). It is our the biggest success  .

My big dream is agility race with only bobtails :).

Do you know other countries where are races only for OES?

I'm sorry, Kveta. I looked through my bookshelves and I can't find the volumes you mentioned, so I really can't give you an opinion.

I don't think there are any European OES-only agility competitions. Or at least I've never heard of any. As best I can tell there are even fewer OES doing competitive agility in Europe than there are in the US.

If you want such a competition you may need to find some likeminded OES people and organize your own. I can put you in touch with a Finnish competitor if you wish? She hasn't been doing much agility lately since one of her bitches had a litter not too long ago, but I expect she'll be back.
