Little scabs, are they hot spots?

Walter has 3-4 dime sized scabs on his stomach, and one on his butt. They aren't full thick scabs, but they are just red and scabby. They have been there for a while. He doesn't bite or scratch at them (probably because he can't reach them) so I am not sure what is keeping them scabbed up? Any ideas?

Buddy was getting spots like that and after some research I found they were hot spots. Some he could reach to scratch and some he coudn't. I finally figured out they were caused from the slicker brush. I know they can be caused by many different things. I bought some hydrocortisone spray from petco and they cleared right up. I am now more careful when I use the slicker brush on him. :)

I almost forgot. I am using the edit button :) I think they were also possibly caused from me not completely drying him off after a bath so that may be a possibility also. :) Good Luck.
Hot spots itch and there's usually some general redness and irritation around the it, too. Could they be bug bites?
Oliver has only had 1 hot spot, but it wasn't scabby either. Oliver's hot spot was oozy and it grew almost daily it seemed.
Are they round and a bit scaly? That could be ringworm.
ugh they are round and scaly! Guess were going to the vet this weekend :(
Sure does sound more like ringworm.
